I'm devastated, where I will find such a specific porn again?

And so it goes.... I just deleted my account there and deleted all my favs..... bookmark tab never been so empty. I saw a lot of my photomanips reposted there and it served as a good source for pics to manipulate for fun.

Literally everything on my tumblr has already been tagged in just the last hour. I have quite a collection, I wish I knew how to save it all.

Here is what I posted to my Tumblr a few minutes ago. The short version: You get what you pay for. In this case, NOTHING.

I’m going to be a bit harsh on you, but this comes from the heart, and I think it’s something you all need to see/hear. SUPPORT THE SMALLER WEBSITES WHO HOST BODY MODIFICATION CONTENT!

I don’t say what I write below in a mean spirit, but I think it’s something you all need to read.

I run a small website with another guy which contains significant amounts of body modification content. It used to be a/the prime place many of you would go to find what you’re lamenting losing here at Tumblr. Unfortunately, you all wanted to run away to the free and easy fix for your viewing pleasure. I get it, I really do, but you’re now about to get what you’ve been paying for - NOTHING.

I have to admit, I’ve seen this coming from Tumblr, and other mainstream websites for some time. I’m only surprised it took this long. Why you might ask?

Our site went through this issue a few years back. We were kicked out of our server for hosting adult content when our server host made the exact same announcement as Tumblr has. We had to jump through our asses to download everything, then manually re-upload it to a new site, where we had to cobble together everything on marginal software at the spur of the moment. We managed to save the site, but we needed ongoing help which was requested, but never came.

It’s a lot of work running a site when you don’t have the resources of Tumblr, Google, Yahoo, or many others. It is work which we are glad to do, but our payment for our efforts was mostly bitching, whining, and complaining. We always heard about what’s wrong with what we were doing, but seldom hearing anything about what was going right. It’s a thankless task, running a home for our alternative lives. I’ve heard similar things from the folks running similar sites as I do.

Sadly everyone wants the easy, free, alternative, and off you all went. Now it’s coming back to bite.

Unless folks come to these smaller sites instead of pissing into to the wind against what Tumblr has done, you’re going to lose out. Face it, Tumblr has made up their mind, and the purveyors of adult content will not be able to change it. Tumblr has huge resources, and I’m certain knows what the cost will be to ending adult content.

THEY DON’T CARE! They especially don’t care about us. Never have, never will.

So you can all keep crying about the loss of this content on Tumblr, or you can support your smaller community based websites. Think of it like this; you’re supporting your local merchant and not the faceless big box retailer. It’s the online version of that. If you don’t support them, when the big guys decide you don’t serve their purpose anymore, you risk losing all this forever. And the small guys will be gone.

Support your smaller sites. It doesn’t have to be the one I work on, but support someone. Otherwise, the community will vanish.

Really well worded LT. You made your point and I don’t think offended any sensible people. As I’ve said my interest ebbs and flows, I get too into porn and the fantasy world for a time and then I come back to reality again. Tumblr is one of those super convenient sites — especially with the app — where I could get what I was looking for with minimal effort and unnecessary distraction. Being what it is, this action by Tumblr with their unique content delivery is going to create a vacuum that several micro sites wil rush to emulate. I’d guess a year from now there will be no less than 10 sites with similar platforms serving strictly NSFW content using a variation of Tumblr’s framework. One will emerge as the clear leader, and they’ll offer premium content with no ads, the other smaller sites will build databases of members and email lists which they’ll be able to sell to remarketers. At least that’s my take on it, not that anyone asked.

Wow, I just reread this and I almost sound like a real adult. College courses on internet marketing are beginning to show promise.

Tumblr had more of a problem than adult nudity, NSFW content, etc.

I have a Tumblr account, mainly in the South Park fandom. You see some really great fanart, and get some good content such as soundbites from the games, etc., that I might otherwise have no access to. I don't play games. I only have the DVD's.

The problem with searching for content was that something tagged "south park" and "NSFW" and "Creek" all together would come up on a search for "South Park." If you didn't want NSFW, you got it anyway.

Now, not to open the issue and argument of whether hand-drawn scans or CGI of what appear to be underage characters is child porn or not. However, Tumblr had a huge issue with this. The NSFW purge took place because the Tumblr app was dropped from the Play Store. The reason cited? Tumblr was hosting child porn.

And it was.

A LOT of it.

We're talking about real images of real people. Videos, even.

And it was not hard to find this stuff.

Search a topic, let's say "Max" from the web series "Camp Camp." Or "Naruto." Or the boys from Pokemon or Digimon. You'll find a lot of artwork. Most of it is rated G. Some is PG. But a good chunk of it is rated X. Again, searching "Ash Ketchum" or such would give you NSFW results or not.

Each post also has notes. Likes, comments, reblogs, are all a note. Another word for this art is "Shota". And shota posts generally had a high note count. Make a comment, and you see the comments. One more click, you've got the notes expanded. Click a user here or there, in search of similar art, and BANG!

You're seeing something that you NEVER intended to see, and mashing that REPORT button!

I recently showed this to a friend with legal connections. On an open random WIFI, behind a VPN, I showed him how to find it. In under an hour, we had reported over 2 dozen real child porn blogs. And when you found 1 image, it had a thousand notes or more. Yes, more. And each one of those notes, just about, was yet another blog full of the same content. It could go on and on, and usually did. There was quite the hoopla over it.

However, I don't expect that the content purge will last long, or do much good. Already, it's beginning to come back. And users are persistent.

One user, his ID ending in -11, was up to -23 when the purge happened. Every time he got deleted, he just came back again.

But such is the Internet. As with all things, there will always be those who will abuse it.

Search Google for an app called tumblthree

It's open source and free. It will download your entire content off your blog (or any blog). Before you run it, scan it for viruses (it's open source and available from many different sites).

Also, before you run it the first time, make sure you check (or uncheck) the boxes for the kind of posts you want to download (for example, you might not want to download reblogs or videos).

It will create a folder on whatever drive you loaded the software on (so maybe load the software on a flash drive if you tumblr is huge).

You can even use it on your favorite blog to grab all the pics off it.
