I had my orchiectomy on April 26, so it's been nearly 7 months since the procedure. Healing was pretty typical from reading accounts of others, with the exception that the incision continued to seep for about two weeks post-surgery; as opposed to a few days as I've read from others. I had the swelling of the cords like others have mentioned, and this swelling took a couple months to go away. But the thing that I'm concerned with, is one of the cords seems fused to the scrotal wall. I mentioned this to the surgeon at the follow-up visit (which was 3 months post-surgery). He examined me and said that he didn't think it was attached, rather still just swollen. But here I am 7 months post, and to me, clearly it seems fused. Pull on the scrotum, even on the opposite side (or anywhere for that matter), and I can feel the tugging and can visually see the spot on the scrotum where the cord is fused (i.e. the skin being held back by the cords).

So, I'm wondering if anyone else has experienced this, and if so, is there anything that a surgeon can do to alleviate the issue? I may make another follow-up appointment, but this particular surgeon (whom I wouldn't recommend btw) is rather difficult to book appointments with; and with his limited office hours, I'll likely need to take a day off work just to see him; so I'm hoping to get others' experiences with this. yes go to see your surgeon. He will be able to free it with a small surgery. A lot of cord must have been left for this to happen. In my case my cord stumps could no longer be felt in my sack three months later. Mine were removed due to trauma and perhaps most of the cords were removed.

Yes, he didn't remove as much of the cords as I would have liked. I will be getting GRS done, within a year, so I might just leave it be until then.

I might also recommend seeing another urologist. At this point your just talking about a fused cord, not the castration. If it's a simple fix, any urologist can do it.

Thanks... It's good to know that it's a simple procedure. I had visions of it being another (albeit small) invasive surgical procedure (if that makes any sense).

As a side bar, I really cannot wait for my GRS... and see the rest of it gone...

If you can wait for your GRS, it might be a money saver to let them deal with the fused cord at that time. When is the GRS planned?

go see your doctor who did the orchiectomy he may do for free, if not like others said wait for your GRS

Don't yet have a firm date; but expect it to be sometime in 2019.

The same thing happened to me following my bilateral orchie - both cords adhered to the exit wound at the base of the sac. The issue was resolved when I had the sac removed - the surgeon shortened the cords at the same time. Unless the problem starts causing you a lot of discomfort I think the advice to wait until your GRS is good. At least it will allow you to avoid any unnecessary healing and fees.
