Sad news story, and thoughts are with his friends and family. I don't post the news story to be enjoyed, but I do wonder if the genitals from this athlete were taken as some sort of trophy?

A Brazilian soccer pro was found in a bush in Brazil after being nearly beheaded and having his testicles removed.
The Sao Paulo Football Club confirmed the death of Daniel Correa Freitas, who was reportedly found Saturday night in the city of Sao Jose dos Pinhais.
SPFC deeply regrets the death of midfielder Daniel Corrêa Freitas. The Club offers its sincere condolences to his family and friends, according to a tweet from the Sao Paulo FC.
The 24-year-old midfielder had suffered "two deep cuts on his neck, his head was nearly beheaded, and his genitals were severed, according to talksport.com.
He was reportedly at the end of his three-year contract and had played in just two of his teams 21 games this season. He began his career in 2013 with the Brazilian team Botafogo. He joined Sao Paulo in 2014.
