I Feel Like Patient Zero in "The Stand"

So I've had this cold or something for about 36 hours now, that just won't quit. It also won't respond to any type of medication.
Unusual for me.
Bacterial infections, yeah, I'm prone to those, but viruses usually take one look at me and just fall over dead.
I'm expecting Kareem Abdul Jabaar to show up any minute and tell me that the Dark Man is coming for me, and call me "Larry."
That, or the Trashcan Man to come along singing, "Bump dee bump dee bump..."

In the UK we have a cure for this.
Get a bottle of Scotch and light a candle.
Pull the cork from the bottle of Scotch and swig straight from bottle.
Keep drinking the Scotch until the one candle turns into 3.
Blow the middle one out and go to bed.

There has been one floating around the SW US since summer. For me began as big blob of yellow mucous blowing nose. Then you feel like shit for a week or two with no energy and then slowly recover. And then get it again. And again. I got it three times and then was clear for September until my son got it and gave it to me. Fortunately, succeeding rounds are less intense than first one. It responds to nothing but time.
I have toned down ambiguouos' solution in old age, but have used it in past years. Even better is home brew hootch from hill billy or Latin American stills.

Get well soon. I'm not sure how far along the flu is, but you could ask your doctor for Tamaflu. It lessen the flu by about 3 days.
