Finasteride 5mg

I've been on Proscar (finasteride 5mg) for almost 20 years. In fact, I was taking it for about five years before in went generic.

I've had none of the "bad effects"* of the drug. No loss of libido, no vanishing willy, no ED. I've read both on here and in chat that many find finasteride to be damaging. There is even a Post Finasteride Syndrome support group online and the scope of problems they have are far reaching.

For me, I had all the symptoms of an enlarged prostate - getting up 5 times a night to pee, when in bed it felt like I had to pee, when I stood up I didn't have to pee, it was difficult to start the flow of urine, I had a weak stream, my bladder did always feel empty, and I'd get an urgent need to pee.

It took a while to work. However, all of those symptoms are gone.

So, I was wondering if anyone else has been prescribed finasteride and not had the "bad effects"*?

---

* I don't call them "side effects" because they're all the effects of the drug.

Can't speak for myself but the man I spent 25 years of my life with used the same medication for about 15 years with no ill effects. It eliminated his getting up several times during the night to go pee and made his life generally easier without doubt. He never experienced any effects other than the positive. The one thing I did notice was that it lowered his blood pressure which wasn't such a bad thing. I hope this helps with your question.

I'm on Finasteride and was wondering if anyone takes it sublingualy ( letting it dissolve under the tongue) rather than swallowing. Would it be more effective this way?

Finasteride 5mg taken orally reduces DHT to virtually zero in a very short time. So, I don't see much advantage.
