I'll second Kristof -- Read Portnoy's Complaint and you'll understand.
Portnoy was my dive into "forbidden" literature of "Lady Chatterly's Lover," Tropic of Cancer, Tropic of Capricorn, the Story of O, Jacqueline Susan's great entries into literature, and how could one ever forget "Lolita"
Portnoy is the vivid story of how one Jewish boy became a man...
