I need to talk to someone who has had surgical castration and are not taking any sort of hormone.
I had prostate cancer and had my prostate removed 7 years ago, now the cancer has come back and is in my sternum, my urologist has suggested surgical castration as he has to go in anyway to fix a hydra seal problem

I lived for 2.5 years with no T replacement and I know others here have went for longer also. Do you have specific questions? Feel free to PM me.

Also surgically castrated for medical reasons and advisedly with no T.
Always remember that YMMV, as they say round here, I had a period of lethargy. (My spouse supposes this to be bone-idleness, as before!)
It lasted about 3-4 weeks, and lifted. I had flashes, diminishing in intensity and frequency for about 3 months, again nothing to interfere with life and a full-time job. After that, I can tell you that I have never felt better. Concentration, focus, relations with spouse and the world never better. Happy too!
In short, we have concluded that mostly, I am better off without T.
The doc watched everything, and noted that my hemoglobin fell from about 14 to 12.5, but I didn't notice any effect of it, so we watch and have done nothing about it, except note it with only a little interest.

Thank you, this is the type of thing I want to know. My son in law is chemically castrated and has been for the last 18 months for prostate cancer and he is in agony at times with joint pain, did you have any of that at all? YMMV ??

I was off any hrt for about 7 months and i used to get deep aches in my legs but no joint pain. Apart from that it was mostly just the loss of energy, strength and muscle mass.

Never joint pain, though it seems you don't have to be castrated to get rebellious joints?

I have been using 2 doses of 1.62 testosterone gel.
I was castrated 3 years ago due to medical reason, but for about 2 years before that my testes were producing no testosterone at all, so I have been using the gel for about 5 years.
Reading this, and other threads, and other medical information, it became obvious that just stopping the gel “cold turkey” was not a good idea.
So I started to reduce the gel to just one dose a day for a couple of weeks.
I then reduced it to one dose every other day.
Then I went to one dose every other day, then one dose every two days, and am now on a schedule of one dose every 3 days.
By the end of August I will stop using it completely.
So far, no issues, other than being anxious for being completely free of testosterone.
With the gel I was completely unable to get an erection or orgasm.
However I had a very high desire for sex experience, and gratification.
Background: I am a gay married man approaching 75 years of age.
I have not been able to engage in sexual relations with my husband ever since being castrated, although the desire is there, but not the ability.
Thus I am sexually frustrated.
Since I can not “grow a pair”, the best option seemed to be to just eliminate the source of my sexual cravings and desire by eliminating all testosterone from my system.
I am very hopeful that this will be a solution to my current experience.
I have what I call PCSD (Post Castration Stress Disorder).
I really miss my balls and enjoying sex, but those days are long gone.
I will try to post an update next month when I am T Free, but I don’t visit the site that often, even though it can be very helpful and useful.
