New Family Guy episode "The Unkindest Cut" Has Quagmire Losing His Penis

So if you're into Family Guy you might want to check out the recent episode "The Unkindest Cut". I won't give away spoilers so won't tell you how he loses it or whether he gets it back somehow.

Unfortunately, the episode doesn't treat the subject well. Firstly, I think it had a lot more comedic potential. Secondly, on the more serious side they don't explore the possibilities like they could. if you know Quagmire's character there would have been a lot of possible experimentation. I would have really liked to see him learning to focus on the woman's pleasure. I would have liked something comedic to happen like his balls getting bigger and bigger as they fill up through the episode without him getting relief.

So if you like seeing penectomy in mainstream media, you should check out the episode. Unfortunately it isn't a particularly good episode in my opinon.

There is also a possible "political" aspect to the episode in that the "the unkindest cut" is the title of a documentatary on circumcision. But the creator of Family Guy has been a very vocal pro-circumcision proponent (or at least skeptical of the anti-circumcision folks). So it is not a stretch to think he is using this episode to make some statement about that. However, I didn't really get that impression actually since they don't frame any of the conversations around circumcision. It would have been easy to discuss him "losing sensitivity", or now being Jewish (there is a lot of other Jewish jokes in this episode because the side plot is about Mort Goldman running an opioid ring from his pharmacy).

I watch adult cartoons in lieu of other mindless trash on TV like the national news. I saw the episode and the end is, or course, ridiculously implausible. It's not the first time FG has dealt with castration. In one episode the dog Brian narrowly escapes being neutered and in another son Chris chemically castrates himself and become effeminate, yet more intelligent.

South Park (my favorite) also dealt with castration as a result of many of the town's men microwaving their balls to induce cancer, simply to avail themselves to medical marijuana. They hop around town on grossly enlarged scrotums toking pot. In the end Randy remarks about his prosthetic testicles and presents his wife with a coat made from his enlarged scrotum. One can deduce that now all the main male characters in South Park are subsequently testicle free.

It shows how even though castration and de cocking men are taboo, people are interested in both and they gain viewers when programs include these taboo subjects. And people can laugh at cartoons and actors getting cut as fake and harmless fun.
