Marvel's Avengers: Infinity War - SPOILERS!

Post by Paolo »

So if you've not seen it yet, don't read this!

So we went to see this travesty of a comic book inspired movie tonight, and as you can guess, I hated it.

Thanos (the bad guy) wants to find the Infinity Stones - leftovers from the Big Bang that started the Universe - from when nothing suddenly exploded into everything for reasons unknown.

Turns out, Dr. Strange has one. So does the Vision. Jumping from world to world, and groups of heroes fighting villains in disjointed, grandiosely violent scenes full of CGI, Thanos and his henchmen eventually collect all of the stones but one. This leaves the Vision and his pals in Wakanda (Black Panther), fighting the final battle that Dr. Strange has already told them that they can't win.

Then, surprise surprise, Thanos gets the last Infinity Stone. With it, he then wills half of all life in the Universe to die. This is because the Universe will thank him for it, as he feels it's too over-populated as it is.

Loki, Gamora, Heimdall, and the Vision are killed in battles. Then, when Thanos gets all the Stones, people begin to disintegrate. We assume that this happens all across the Universe, and is not limited to just the heroes. It would have been better if they'd spent a minute or so on showing just regular people disintegrating, but they didn't.

Heroes who die are: Black Panther, Spiderman, Dr. Strange, Bucky Barnes, Sam Wilson, The Scarlet Witch, ALL of the Guardians of the Galaxy, Nick Fury, and Maria Hill. (SHIELD)

Talk about a bloodbath!

So in the end, the bad guy wins.

Oh well.

My recommendation? Wait for it on DVD/BR, and rent it.

I hated it. I'll give it one star, as even Yelp won't let you give a 0.

The ending of the movie was shocking but if you read comics it wasn't a surprise. The movie itself was good I think. Lot's of action, some drama and Thanos in the middle of everything. I think in Avengers 4 we will see some characters coming back from death. I expect Spider-man, Dr. Strange and the Black Panther as they will get new movies in the future. (so obvious :D)

Too bad the next episode will be in 2019 May. :(

I have had a silly take on such things with another super group that marvel has under it's control. the X-Men, though in the focus of this group, it would be more appropriate for them to be the EX-men. and it's a band of super powered Eunuchs.

I haven't seen the AVENGERS: INFINITY WAR because i've been busy. I have read lots of spoilers.

What I want to say is that there are multiple authors and they are writing at different times and without much cores-cooperation in creating multiple characters with their own coherent storylines. That's what people perceive as incoherent and disjointed and as Paolo says - travesty and incomplete.

The most successful story series -- Babylon Five, Battlestar Galactica (reboot), Lord of the Rings, and Harry Potter 1-7/8, Star Wars (even that pile of excrement) have one thing in common -- they were written first from beginning to end, before films began. Character development and historical plot lines established from the start.

The Avengers timelines are being written on the fly with only the barest of outlines.

That makes the stories a total mess for thoughtful people and huge, giant, Total eye-candy festivals for the masses.

It's a good thing they're in separate universes, otherwise, Batman would have kicked ass all over that movie and saved everyone.

Actually, this movie establishes {BIG SPOILER ALERT} that Hulk grows stronger with each hit and becomes the most powerful fighter in the universe. It's a gamma ray thing... AND #2 {SPOILER} Thor is almost immortal and can defeat Thanos even with the Infinity glove.

However, {spoiler} Dr Strange saw Thanos' defeat and Thanos left Tony Stark alive. hint, hint,

And one more: Captain Marvel, a superhero from another dimension will cross over and restore the universe's balance.

Or if Marvel really wants to piss off the world, Thanos will have a guilty conscience and be so wracked with that guilt, he restores the half universe he obliterated and begs forgiveness. I can just hear the hysterical and rabid screaming about that plotline now. I fear it would cause violence and dismemberment of those responsible.

And that's my spoilerific gleaned speculation for tonight.
