Motivations for reducing testosterone — help me understand

Hello all,

Thanks for having me here. For what it's worth, I've read around the forums for a while now and taken my time before introducing myself. I'm a British writer/magazine journalist, and my interest in the Eunuch Community would best be termed academic — it's something that I plan to cover in my work and I want to do so with as deep an understanding as possible. In particular, I'd like to learn more about the motivations behind physical or chemical castration in order to limit testosterone — whether that's reducing libido, increasing empathy or achieving an otherwise elusive calm.

Historians have fastidiously documented eunuchs of centuries past, but there is a major lack of understanding in modern contexts and media coverage is of course not always remotely sensitive or remotely accurate. I'd like to go some small way to remedying that. With that in mind, I wondered if any of you who have chosen to reduce their testosterone levels, for whatever reason, might be generous enough to share your journeys with me in as little or as much depth as you're comfortable with. It goes without saying that this will be completely anonymous, and that I'm more than happy to communicate using whatever method you'd like (whether that's DMs, email or another of your choice). Rest assured also that I'm absolutely NOT going to run off and quote anything we discuss (even anonymously) without first clearing that with you further down the line.

Welcome and I cannot speak for all here but I like sharing with others but like to get to know them some first. You must understand how easily it is to get burned this is not always understood by the general public.

I completely understand and of course also realise that this is a two way street. If you don't mind, I'll drop you a PM letting you know a little more about myself. As I said, the reason I'm here is because I want to approach this as sensitively as possible, especially given the lack of broader understanding you mention. My priority is doing so without "burning" anyone, protecting sources is vital in my line of work.

As I said to sparkey49, I absolutely appreciate the need for caution. However, I'm not a sensationalist hack – I often work on sensitive, complex subjects that require preserving the anonymity of those I write about.
