A wife in Leqing, Zhejiang Province is in police custody and her husband is recovering in a hospital after she sliced off his penis with a kitchen knife while he was sleeping on July 8. The vengeful wife, Hu, said she suspected that her husband, Nan, who is a merchant seaman, had been having affairs while away at sea.
Before surrendering to local police, Hu took 200,000 yuan ($29,300) from the couples household account to give their daughter and washed the knife she had used to emasculate Nan, wrapped it in a plastic bag and put it into the refrigerator.
She also called two lawyers and then went to the police station.
Hu told officers that Nan had also beaten her and treated her coldly and that she was so angry and frustrated that she couldnt stop herself.
It was not reported whether Nans pride and joy was reattached as was done to American John Bobbitt who became the butt of worldwide jokes in 1993 after his then-wife Lorena did the same thing.

A woman in Leqing, Zhejiang province who cut off her husband's reproductive organ following an altercation over his fidelity was sentenced to 13 years behind bars last week.
Hu frequently fought with her husband Nan, whom she often accused of having an affair with another woman.
In the early hours of July 13, when Nan was fast asleep, Hu severed his penis with a kitchen knife and immediately surrendered to the police.
