How many "Page Hits" or visits do the stories get?

There's a lot activity on this message board, but I often wonder how many people are actually reading the stories. If a story is really successful perhaps 15 readers will vote to assign "stars" and perhaps four people will leave comments.
So how many times is a particular story actually visited and read?

Hey @atreyu69
Short of adding a page counter or something like Google Analytics to each story, I don't know that the current software is able to track hits.
It's possible that he hosting company of the fiction site has a hit tracker. Most hosting companies can create a monthly report on hits, referrals, time spent on the site, entry pages, exit pages, etc.

βEach story is not tracked for individual hits.

I ve always had the feeling that most people on here spend way more time on reading the stories than anything else on here. Just looking at the huge members list who don t post on the forums, I always thought many of them only wanted to enjoy reading the fiction archive stories.
The vast majority of the members listed never seem to post any public comments on here or at the end of the stories. I love reading what people thought of stories in their comments. I wish more readers would comment on all the great stories. I feel like commenting to thank the authors and encourage other readers to leave comments. But then I worry about commenting too much. Thanks for your stories authors.

I have been thinking the same thing.
So few of the people that are here post. or in any way, make there present anything but a "name/nick".
so that most meen.
they read information in forum about the things they are interested in.
And stories.
But it may help a bit.
If it was asked from the archives. or council.
that when u READ a story.
to 1 star it or 2 give it a short comment.
Then we at least will get more ide about what we have going on.
Also it shoud be possible to have numbers of users online on fiction archive. same as here.
my 2 cents.

Excellent ideas. But which user is going to step up and help to make those changes happen?
It's one thing to suggest changes, another to offer your time and service to make them happen.

So you meen it take a lot of work?
to post that on the front page of fiction archives. to rate the stories. or to post a comment on the stories you read?
yes. i understand u may need more time and skills to make a side that count the users.
like we have here on forum.
But to ask the users of the archives to contribute! and to give some feedback to the side. And also the authors.
I can't see any reason for that being a large job.
In any way shape or form.
but then i am just a stupid castrated jock lol

I have written a very few stories and that is the feeling I get. I imagine with 20 votes that there were 100, maybe 200 readers. I have appreciated people who take the time to comment. I might point out that I think one or two stars if I remember right means the story was average at best to you. Stars give you the opportunity to indicate how much you like the story.
I can only speak for myself, but I write because it is like something inside me that wants out - kind of like 'Alien' or gas. I write for me, but I have to admit that there also is ego involved and it is nice to see people actually read and give stars. It would be kind of a bummer if there were no indication of anyone reading.

Feedback on stories has been the problem here since the beginning. I don't know if it's because people think they're going to be tracked or what, but they aren't. The only thing that the story server does is compare your IP to a list of known IP's that have been associated with server attacks. I guess I'll say it again, that the story server doesn't keep a record of your IP #. Once you're in, that data is gone. If you're reading this and are that worried about it, Opera browser offers a free built-in VPN to hide your IP. You can also access the story server via TOR browser.
Perhaps when he gets time, our beloved Talula can give us a report on server traffic.
