National Crisis

Post by Charlieje (imported) »

Folks, I think it's time we had a reality checkl.

I have not been posting very much lately, and that trend will probably continue on a downward slide. The cold hard fact is we are in deep doo-doo. people, and I for one am far more concerned about the state of our nation than my testosterone level, or someone's freedom of speech, or anyone else's freedom for that matter. The fact is that ALL of our freedom is at stake, like it or not!

Perhaps it takes a foreigner, an immigrant, to realize just how good we have it here. I am a Canadian national. and Canada is probably the second best place to be in the world. I emphasize, SECOND best. And it is a very distant second. But I am an American now, and it's time we rallied to the flag, folks, and stop our bickering amongst ourselves.

President Bush has just announced that Iraq is presenting a threat that is beyond our wildest imagination, and I for one believe him. I have only been a citizen of this great nation for 4 years, but I would gladly give my life for it, because the life I endear so much was given me by this nation in the first place.

I went to college here! I got my fist job here! I learned how to survive here! It's time we gave something back. folks! It's time we recognized just how incredibly fortunate we are!

I received an email from the father of a secod cousin of mine back in Canada yesterday. His son, four years old, had been struck by a truck and was in intensive care in a regional hospital 90 miles away. He could not drive his own car to see his son because he could not afford the insurance to license his car. HE HAD TO BORROW A CAR TO GO SEE HIS OWN SON!!!

That is common in Canada! And Canada is one of the more privileged nations in the world. Can you even imagine how desperat things must be in Narirobi? Or Afganistan? We have it so good here, and yet we worry about our freedom of expression, our rights, our security. At least we have security, and whether we like to admit it or not, that is rare, my friends.

Ok, back to your regularly scheduled program. I just wanted you all to know that my biggest regret right now is that I am too old to serve in the Military. If they would have me, I would be first in line!

This is a great country, but it doesn't come without a price.

Shouldn't this post be in "The Deep, Dark Cellar"? It has little to do with eunuch issues.

I personally think that America should stop meddling in foreign affairs (especially when they're not wanted), unless its own security is at stake. It makes enemies this way - enemies who may attack innocent American civilians in retaliation. It also forces taxpayers to bear the cost of military intervention.

I think that if the US left Iraq alone, then Iraq wouldn't dare to attack the US, because the US could bomb them into oblivion. But if the US is already being a thorn in Iraq's side, Iraq would have more of a reason to release weapons of mass destruction, etc. If the US went to war with Iraq, it would certainly win, but there might well be a significant number of American (including civilian) casualties. Even if there were no casualties (IIRC, no Americans died in the Gulf War of 1991), billions of dollars would still have been expended.

I used to live in Canada too. It's a nice place to live. I moved to the US because my mother moved here in order to get a better job.

Many Thanks, Charlie!

I am glad you posted this here on eunuch central. I am in agreement with you on what you said, but that is not why I am replying back. What you said needed saying Here & Now, & moreover you are the right person to speak about it. I thank you for your keen insight on America.

Hap, who are are you to say what message belongs where????

If someone does not agree with your liberal agenda, then you stick his ideas/ his message on some small part on a back page. If his views were in line with yours & others, I don't doubt t that he would have a had a quote on the front main page here at eunuch archive. Once again I find yet another liberal who believes freedom of speech is only for liberals. Disagree with a liberal & you are cast from having an equal voice with them on the same level to the outer fringes & being black-balled as some derelict fringe lunatic.

Well, that's two in a row ...

A suggestion to move/copy a thread isn't really a bad thing, but your last two posts I've read have been personal attacks, Spence, so I think it's time to do something about that.
