Has anyone found a Dr. who was open to, and helped with lowering T as a way to prevent PC. I am high risk, Father, Uncle and Cousin all died in early to mid 60s from very aggressive PC. I would gladly be castrated now rather than waiting to be diagnosed and then treat.

My suggestion is try chemical first it has the same effect concerning PC as surgical but usually reversible.

I think a lot of men on here have very similar worries and wonder about castration as a possible life saver if it was done early enough to prevent prostate cancer from starting. It didn t seem to help my older relatives much or extend their lives much to get castrated after the cancers were growing in them. So it does seem like a man would need to get castrated before he shows any cancer to really do him the most good. From what I ve read about it, castration can slow down getting prostate cancer and it can slow down how fast the cancer grows. But in theory, some experts think a man would still get prostate cancer at some point if he lived long enough. It would take him longer to have it show and longer to grow and kill him if he was castrated to remove his testosterone from his body. I think there was some article on EA about how surgical castration worked better than chemical castration in the long run for cancer survival lengths of time.
But any man who has watched his own older relatives suffer intense pain and and the true horrors of prostate cancer does look at his balls as he grows closer to the ages men get prostate cancer. He looks at his balls and wonders if its worth it to keep his balls and risk cancer with his family history of cancers or not ? And would castration really extend his life span or not ? I sure have wondered that many times with so many relatives that died from prostate cancers. Who wouldn t ask about that and worry ?

I hinted about options to having my T lowered to my NP at my last checkup. He seemed shocked, and told me if my T was low they would bring it back up, I have been experiencing night sweats, fatigue, some weight gain. I said I would rather deal with those than PC. He said the side effects of low T are just as dangerous, and I know this site may be a little biased, but i dont see that as the case.

No, it's a ridiculous thing to say - cancer kills, low testosterone doesn't. He thinks you're a weirdo for even suggesting it because most men would not want that, or at least admit to it.

Hi MikeGrant, if the risks in family great - it's better to do some against. Prevent PC. A lot of males believe, only the other one has risks. That's false. A good dr understand and handle. If he is seriously, he or she will help.

Just heard another uncle was diagnosed with prostate cancer. A man can t help but wonder about preventing it or at least delaying it with castration. But unless the man went the rest of his life with no testosterone and no sex abilities, it wouldn t stop the cancer. That s a lot to give up for prevention ! But you can t help thinking about it. Especially when you see another relative losing his balls trying to stop it and it failing most of the time once the prostate cancer gets growing. Castrated too late to do much good by then.

100% right. To reduse your T for a time( Few mnths) you will be able to expirience, how your body react.
And even more how your emotions mind will cope with it.
The best part, you have still a change to END it!!!
If you PC there are no way back.
In my book, this doctor, Do not have your best interest in mind.
I had one testicle with cyste s on that hurt like crap. and that was big risk of develuping canser.
So know were u comeing from. But i still waited to it hurt so bad. that i more or less had no choise.
Was asked 3 years before i did it. but waited, There are no reason to do it. Just in case it happen. Because if you check up every 3-6 mths.
They/ you will find any trase of canser in good time, of a dangerous level in your testicles.
So Chesk your self regulary for lumbs inregulareties on your testicles.
Pain in your balls. If anything like that happens. Go to Hospital ASAP
If not i had tested a low T if you whant to!!!
If not..... Just live your live as normal as you can.
And just make mental preparations for what you may, or maby you never need to expiriense.
