BIID vs Body Dysphoria

Curious to get some opinions from others on here to see if BIID is different from body dysphoria. From what I read it is, however according to the DSM-5 "dysphoria" on its own explains BIID which then puts it into body dysphoria. If the definitions I have read hold true it'd seem I have BIID, not body dysphoria as I don't think about imaginary issues with my body and the things I think about can be pushed aside from a few months or longer if required. I've also had surgery in the past which successfully got rid of all thoughts in that area and improved my life as well as other modifications doing the same which would apparently not have happened if I had body dysphoria. I can explain more specifics about my situation if required though didn't think it was needed at this time.

If anyone has good, peer-reviewed resources I can read about that explains each of these that'd be excellent. Thanks in advance.

BIID and Body/Gender Dysphoria are two different things. Gender Dysphoria is feel like you're in the wrong body, in the case of you and I, we are men who feel our gender is eunuch/nullo (for the purposes of these changes). I consider myself a man, I just was very uncomfortable having man parts on my crotch. Now they're gone, much better life.

You should reach out to the user here on the EA names Jesus, he's doing a TON of research. He's always been very helpful to guys like us.

Thank you for the reply, however my question didn't pertain to gender dysphoria as that one's pretty simple to get. Mine was BIID vs body dysphoria. I'll look up Jesus and see what he says about this as it's one of those curious things I'm dying to find more about.

I received your Private Message, but I'll give a brief answer here to start. I will be tied up for the next couple of days before I will have time for a proper answer.

A quick start would be that Body Disphoria is a feeling that the body would be better with some changes. Making the changes does not seem to work as a cure. It's considered a psychiatric problem requiring psychiatric treatment. BIID/Xenomelia is the "knowing" that a body part does not properly belong. There is evidence that it is a "brain wiring" problem in the sensory cortex. Removing the "offending body part" cures the problem. A survey of all of the extant medical literature on BIID indicates that the body parts most effected are male genitals and left lower legs of both sexes (adjacent areas on the sensory cortex). Each makes up about one-third of known cases. There is a small academic literature on the subject and I can send some of it to anyone who will send me a private message that includes an email address that will accept attachments. I should be able to pull everything together to send by the first of next week.

Thanks for the comparison. The way you describe BIID lines up to how I've commented about my thoughts to friends since there's this feeling of things being wrong with my male genitals though it's subtle and not a loud "you must absolutely remove them asap" like some express with SRS/GRS. I'll include my email in the PM to read about that literature.
