what exactly is going on here? is this a board for people who were accidentally castrated or for like people who had sex changes or what? it seems like some posts people WANT to be eunochs. whats the motivations behind this? im very curious to know, because ive never heard of anything like this. maybe some of you can explain it to me? i'm not going to judge or make fun or anything, i just want to know

There are many different motivations, and many different reasons men have for becoming eunuchs.

All I can honestly speak to are my own reasons and my own motivation.

I'd suggest reading some of the threads here for some insight on others, and going to my BMEworld site (see below) and reading my FAQ section there for MY reasons.

why would you do something like that to yourself? i read your FAQ but didnt get a real clear answer of WHY you did it...why not just leave your stuff hanging around so to speak and just not use it? seems more practical than spending $10,000 to have it removed

If your reading in my FAQ about 40+years of repeated urinary tract infections, constant pain, constant unquenched sex drive, etc. didn't give you a hint, I cannot explain it to you any further.

If someone is bothered by my choice to get rid of all those negatives by having my dangly bits removed, that is simply their problem, not mine.

I have provided as much information, in as much detail, as it should take. The fact that I got several pshrinks, several MD's, and my wife to agree and understand to the point of fully supporting me should also give you a hint that there was good, valid, and sufficient reason to take the path I did.

That's it, I tried.

No problem. I am one of those who was NOT accidentally castrated, nor do I have the slightest desire for a sex change.

I am what is known as an "elective eunuch". That term "elective" means I voluntarily had myself castrated. Many others in The Eunuch Archive are elective eunuchs. And many are not. There is room for quite a variety of interests.

As for WHY, well, I wanted to be free of an excessive libido. Simple as that. Castration can result in what has been termed "The Eunuch Calm", a hard-to-describe state of serenity due to not being obsesseed with thoughts of sex and/or aggression. Not all eunuchs may have it, but those of us that do rarely want to go back to a testosterone-driven life.

sorry Tomas, i guess i skimmed too much. the only reason i saw was you said you were born with female characteristics or something. but you and Andrew clear some stuff up for me. Andy- by castrate that means you only have your testes removed? are you still able to get an erection? is there NO sexdrive at all for you anymore? i can see the problem if your sexdrive makes you agressive but why did you want it depleted completely and permenantly?

Yes, by "castrate" and/or "eunuch" I mean the removal of the testicles only. I have never had even the slightest interest in a penectomy.

Please note that many eunuchs retain some sexual activity after castration, although at a reduced level. Erections and orgasms are still possible for some. It depends on age of castration, what the adrenal glands are putting out, and other factors poorly understood. A loving and understanding partner can help out.

In my case, at age 56, I was quickly rendered impotent and totally without a sex drive. I felt I would be better off without the testosterone-induced sexuality and aggressiveness, and that has been the case. I am now calm and relaxed and comfortable without being bothered by thoughts of sex and aggresion.

ANDREW did not become a eunuch because he thought it would be a fun thing to do. He was tired of the sex addiction in his life. How many times have you seen a person you know tell thair spouse or boss that thay will never drink again this is the last time only to see that same person do the same thing over and over again It could be drugs gambling smoking or any other addiction that is thair problem.This is what many of us are facing with sex addection.We are tired of being out of controal. So we have taken the extreme measures of controling our sex drive through surgical means or drugs to lower our testosterone.This is the best way i can explain it so you can understand us and who we are

I know your not getting the answer to your question, the reason is that there is no one reason. Twenty eunuchs in here and we will all give you a different answer. The only thing I have found that is common with all of us is an ITCH that cant be scratched, only being castrated will scratch that ITCH. Its just that simple. Who does this well we are between 18 and 80, were married, divorced, parents, grandparents, never been married, gay with and with out partners and bi sexual, we are trans sexual, trans-gendered, pre-op post-op or some ware in between, now if that does not help you, dont fret some of us never have quite figured it all out but are happy with the results. Me I am not sure I can tell you why I am a eunuch, not really, not sure that I know myself, but it dose not matter to me, I am happy this way, for the first time in my life I feel whole and complete. I know that did not answer you question either I think you would need to spent a couple of years in here to gain that in site. But even then you may be just as confused about it as you are now.

Some things you and explain and quantify this is not one of them.
