X-Men: Apocalypse
X-Men: Apocalypse
is like the 10nth? 12th? 3,294th? Marvel X-men movies.
It's the end of the world thanks to the very, very, very, very, absolutely, positively FIRST Mutant being raised from his 4500 year old tomb-whatever-thingie.
It's on a grand scale and we see lots of X-Men from the comic books.
Magneto is back. Storm is stormy. Quicksilver is really fast. Logan is stabbingly good. Nightcrawler prays. Beast shits on the lawn. Rogue ain't there, thankfully. and the Mutants do their things. Like Angel gets upgraded wings.
Lots of X-men action fun. Take the popcorn with lots of butter. Mutants save the world. Have a few beers. Mutants fight with all sorts of multicolor energy beams and fields.
And now I will tell you the contest I had with myself.
Early in the movie one character says to the other: "{did you think I was going to spoil the entire plot for ya? Think again!}" and I thought: "Now I know exactly how the villain is defeated and dies." Then I just waited for the movie to end.
Writers should never telegraph the endings of their movies. Viewers shouldn't be able to figure out a mystery or a suspense movie in the first five or ten minutes.
Now you know why "Dave craps on a movie," even an enjoyable movie and a movie that is lots of fun to watch.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse
The Marvel Movie Universe is PG-13.
No superhero has a bulge. Sex is never explicit. It's a comic book world for 13 year old boys.
Only the most violent of the heroes and villains -- Logan -- has sex that the audience can see.
Sorry, I took the question seriously.

Yes, Deadpool was the first to break the tradition of PG-13 in Marvel Movies. Logan is the second. I haven't seen Logan yet.
My problem with the PG-13 rating is that all the villains could do was threaten the world or the mutants. The plots get old. There's only so much in that "universe" that can be written about and have dramatic impact.

Unlike Deadpool, Logan is taken seriously. It is really unlike the other movies in that it doesn't have that super hero glossiness. No costumes and no holds barred. Its the Wolverine movie we've been waiting for.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse
logan was pretty good. no sex scenes. lots of cursing and violence and kids doing violent things to survive. but i'm pretty much sick of the x-men and spiderman reboots. can't wait for guardians of the galaxy 2 this year.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse
...
I will definitely make my way to a theater to see Guardians 2...
There is a line of dialogue is DRAFT DAY (the movie about the NFL Draft) where the owner says that he isn't going to NYC to see "Spiderman: Turn Off The Dark" ... It's tough to write a Broadway Bomb as big as "Turn oOff The Dark" was. Plays close on Broadway every year but not extravaganzas like that. Even the crude jerks of South Park listened to the Broadway writers and composers and created a hit. Not Spiderman, though.

Re: X-Men: Apocalypse
I just saw Logan, and it definitely isn't a typical X-Men movie. I actually cared about many of the characters in this one. I liked it.
Re: X-Men: Apocalypse
I have to confess, I don't like Marvel comics or the movies.
Patrick Stewart was the only thing that saved it for me, when they first started with X-Men and my nephews just had to see them.
All of the versions and sequels of Fantastic Four made me want to castrate them with butter knives. (kidding!)
I am one of those rare people who has never seen any of the Spiderman reboots, haven't seen the Avengers, etc. None of them. Chances are, you name it, I've not seen it!
