This is the story of Chesley (Sully) Sullenberger, the airline pilot who became a hero after landing his damaged plane on the Hudson River in order to save the flight's passengers and crew.
This is one go the most inspiring events ever documented on film.
We all remember this story and yet in the days right after the plane crash, there was another drama going on...
With every crash in the USA, the NTSB (National Transportation Safety Board) investigates to determine the cause. There is an entire program on the SMITHSONIAN Channel (Air Disasters) that recounts these investigations. There's always a cause, sometimes it takes years to discover, sometimes it's human error. So this is the story of the initial investigation into the crash.
Sullenberger's nightmares are horrific to see. He has a few during the movie. His background is something that you might not know and its illustrated in the movie.
The reenacted crash and rescue of the 155 people on the plane is amazing to watch. Five ferryboats showed up to save the people standing on the wings. There were NYC police, NJ police, and several divers. They only needed 24 minutes.
And when they play the cockpit recording in real time, it's under 3.5 minutes (208 seconds) from the time the engines quit until the plane touches the water.

Re: Sully (2016)
Yes Dave
Even better there is 100 hours of unedited ATC/NORAD/NEATS 9-11 footage in 21 audio files as well as that of FDNY. Of the two the FDNY is more moving as you hear the 343 fire fighters entering the twin towers whilst everyone else is leaving the buildings
