I can log in to the fiction archive but clicking a story takes me back to the password screen. After I enter my password again, it goes go the story I selected... How do I fix this?

You don't. It is one of the quirks of the system.

You should see me posting stories and then copying stuff to post them on here! It involves a LOT of cursing - and logging in.

Good grief, my 8,000th post. I've been at this far too long.

It didn't used to be that way... Is there any other way to read the stories?

Actually not.

It's always been that way.

I have never had a problem logging into the stories, though I have noticed that if I spend to much time reading a story the website times out and I have to log in again.

How old is your computer? It may be time to upgrade your hardware or operating system.

Well, one way to do it, if you anticipate a long reading session, is to do a Copy-All, then Paste the result into your Word Processor, and read it there. (Or paste it into Sigil and read it as an ebook.)

There are add-ons that can extend the time -- mostly by re-downloading that page often enough to keep it from timing out, though you may be able to do it in the background. If it does it while you are reading, you'll notice the page shift a bit. If you read in your Word Processor, it will keep you logged in so you can browse for another story. I use Staying Alive for Chrome.

The admin could (in theory anyway) extend the timeout value... It's not like there are money transfers or national secrets that we're trying to protect.

Easier still, rather than copy/paste, just right click on the webpage and left click save. You can save pages that way and then just open them in your web browser. It'll show the story even if you're offline and not connected to the internet.
