JOY is the movie about Joy Mangano who invented that twisty mop that was sold on QVC and became a success.
It's a nice movie.
The Joy Mangano story is not quite the story of a typical entrepreneur. Her family is dysfunctional, her father lives with his latest love. Her mother zones out to soap operas everyday. Her ex-husband lives in the basement. But she had an idea for a mop and she's bright. The plastics company tries to cheat her. She gets arrested in parking lot trying to sell the mop.
Hers isn't a totally happy, happy, joy, joy success festival. The story is satisfying and well done. It's heartwarming when 50,000 mops sell in one session of QVC -- at $19.95 that's just under a million dollars.
It's a nice movie.
