This has been going on there for years. They have the yearly walk through by the protesting bible thumpers. The cops have to protect them, because the crowd is more than willing to let those thumpers "sample the wares" in certain parts of that festival.

I can attest from observation that Paolo is a perfect grandparent---spoil the critters unmercifully and then hand them back to the parents to take care of. Buy them things that the kids love and the parents dread (e.g., loud musical instruments, small motorized vehicles, lots of sugar, etc.). He's the grandparent every kid wishes he had.
