They are pretty much done. A few of us took about a year to reformat and edit what was transferred, before we just lost steam to continue. About 8000 stories were transferred, with about 2500 remaining. A very large number of those are not in English. Only one of us speaks a different language (German), and he was overwhelmed. Just isn't gonna happen.

Alternately, anifreak32, you can offer to help with the remaining stories. I'm certain the webgods of the EA would appreciate the help. Not only might you get the story you want back, but you'd also be helping others.

To give you a bit of a peek "behind the curtain" of sites like this, I can provide an example of how thankless running a site like this is. Just yesterday I had someone go psycho on me because he couldn't log into my site and start fapping immediately. Most of their "concerns" I am in the process of fixing, because it's a HUGE undertaking with no electronic algorithm to move the content from one platform to another, so it all has to be done manually, by me, with no offers of help when I've reached out to users I felt I could trust to help. I am actually changing the software on my site to address these things because the current software won't do it, and on top of it all, the current software has recently upgraded to make itself a Facebook clone (yuck!). Frankly with the person who came at me, and the demands they made, I was amazed he wasn't expecting me to show up at his house and wipe the spooge off his keyboard.

Anifreak32, In no way am I implying you are that guy.

While I'm sure you mean nothing ill by asking for those stories, I wrote what I did above because it's one thing to be a user and desire content, but it's another to have the curtain of a website pulled back so you understand a bit of what we deal with when working with that content. Often we are dealing with these issues without any financial compensation for our time, even though we have expenses like server space, bandwidth, etc.

It's also a question that keeps getting asked again and again.

Nearly all of the stories that didn't make it over, as Kristoff said, were written in German.

The problem came in the character encoding, which introduced all sorts of special characters into the story body when the switch was made. We had a long list of what character was supposed to represent what during said switch. In essence, a " mark was not a " mark it some string of mixed characters. Each one had to be replaced.

Now, imagine a chapter of 10k words or so, with a lot of dialog. Lots of apostrophes and quotation marks. It wasn't unusual to spend 2 or more hours cleaning one up.

Then, add in bad grammar or typos, and misplaced quotation marks.

You can see where this ended up.

As LT states in his post, there were OFFERS to help. That help never showed up.

There were also stories from WAY back in the day that weren't really stories, but merely a couple of paragraphs of fap fantasy. Some didn't even make sense, and were discarded.

Pretty much, what you've got is what you've got.

While the first post on this thread is the first contribution by Anifreak32, he has been a member for two years and his profile states that he is from Germany. Since help is needed to reformat stories in German from the old story files, he may be a perfect person to volunteer for the task.

I don't have the technical know-how but I can donate money. Would that help?

money donations may not translate any stories, but it will help keep us afloat and keep the bills paid.

My first posting here, to be honest.

What exactly would be need to do, to bring the missing German stories back ( native German speaker here ).

There are a lot of stories that I am missing very bad. At the moment I don´t have very much time, but in a few weeks I would be able to help ( If you tell me what to do and how).
