Hail Caesar by the Coen Bros...

George Clooney, Josh Brolin, Tilda Swinton, Ralph Feinnes, Alden Ehrenreich, Scarlet Johansson, Jonah Hill, Channing Tatum and a really great supporting cast.

This is a satire on the old Hollywood movies from the 1940's, and 50's -- when the big movie makers and contracts with actors and actresses and pumped out movies year after year...

The Coen Brothers also made "Oh Brother, Where Art Thou" (which is fun) and "Burn After Reading" (which satirizes spies and is generally weird)

At least 35 movies are referenced or hidden in the scenery of HAIL CAESAR...

The plot is that the studio is making a biblical epic (much like Ben Hur) titled "Hail Caesar, a tale of the Christ) with George Clooney as the star. Clooney is the Caesar and he has fateful meeting with Jesus the Christ paralleling the story of Ben Hur.

One day, Clooney is kidnapped by communist writers and held for ransom.

There's a sailor song and dance number like the old musicals.

There's an Esther Williams sequence.

There's a sophisticated upper class comedy with Alden Ehrenreich as the Western Star who can't say the lines to an amazingly funny and effete Ralph Feinnes directing. Ralph Feinnes was Voldemort.

So if you like old movies -- this is a great satire.

This movie hit HBO and that's part of my cable package. I could watch again it after some time passed.

It's really very funny.

But it's a satire so some of the funny parts are cringingly funny and not laugh-out-loud funny.
