Been exactly one year since I climbed onto Dr. Arnkoff's table. I remember walking into his office O.R. by myself, seeing all the surgical equipment laid out, and freaking. I was ready to back out and go home, but Arnkoff talked me through it. Afterwards, I won't say I didn't have any moments of "holy shit, I did it," but they were minimized in large part thanks to my friends on the EA. I had many long conversations and email exchanges with some of you before flying out to Michigan, and then I had the chat room the night before, the day of, and the day after my surgery. All that--along with an ice pack, pain meds, and the knowledge that I had definitely done what was right for me--got me through it.
Interestingly, I dreamed last night that I still had my balls, and it made me feel kind of bummed. When I woke up this morning, I was happy to see they were still not there. Today also happens to be the summer solstice, so combine that, the dream, and it being my eunuchversary, and my Pagan side feels like the universe is telling me I'm on the right path!
Also funny that I have another doctor's appointment today, but not as interesting--just a visit to the allergist. Hopefully in a couple of years I'll be marking this day with a penectomy!
