MY ad blocker

I have one website that I like that just was ignorant about autoplay video advertisement.
The kicker was today's video advertisement that wouldn't let the page scroll while it played. If I moved the cursor, the page kept jumping back to the ad. So I installed an adblocker on Safari (that's the browser for the Macintosh I own).
Adblocker blocks 13 ads on each page of that website.

I've run AdBlock Plus in Firefox for so long, that I'm really shocked to see what web pages look like without it.

I have recently switched from Adblock Plus to uBlock Origin (running SRWare Iron browser). It is waaay better then Adblock Plus!
Adblock Plus is probably the reason Firefox and Chrome are such memory hogs

The pages are definitely sleek and load much faster.
It's the jumpiness that got to me and the damn ability to run a video. I couldn't surf some websites while listening to youtube because of those damn videos. IT was only one website that made life stupid and idiotic.
So now, they ALL get blocked.

I'll remember the Ublock alternative. Right now, AdBlock does the job for me.

I have RAM to spare, though, so it's not an issue. Thanks.

I use adblocker on google chrome and adblock is best extension available for chrome. It block almost every ads but it ignore youtube ads which is one major drawback. So I started using adblock plus. Read more about adblock vs adblock plus (

I use a thing that the local makerspace told me about. Pi-hole. you set up a Raspberry Pi to be an ad blocker. you put it on your router so ads get quashed before they get to your browser. it's great. I took off ad-blocker and Beef Taco because this did the job. sends ads to a black hole...
for what it's worth...

Interesting thread. I've installed and am running uBlock to see how it goes. I've left Adblock Plus installed, but disabled. It will be interesting to compare.

I added GHOSTERY to my browser and between Adblock and Ghostery the annoying crap is elevated.
Several news and magazine websites demand white-listing so their ads can run. Too bad for them.
I have, however, whitelisted the EA and a couple websites that like and don't mind giving a little money through their ads.
I didn't so much mind the static and the unmoving ads. What killed my browser was the auto-play videos and the full background motion videos that just never stopped.
