This is something that I've been wondering for a few weeks now. Is being a eunuch more accepted in some countries than others. For example, here in the USA, people are really uptight about sexuality. I know the French are generally more open to nudism and homosexuality,etc. Would the same hold true for castration/eunuchism?

you do not need tell to everybody that you´re castrated or that you are gay for example. so there´s nothing to accept. or what level of acceptation yo mean? medical? or as a social movement?

I live in Japan.

I had all of my major surgeries here.

I had the first testicle removed in 2007, at that time it was recommended by 2 female urologists. When I got to the hospital the male urologist would not consider the surgery until consulting with my wife.

In 2010 when I had the left one out, it was a totally different story. My wife was totally sterile and the doctor could not offer me other treatment for pain other than drugs.

Nurses never really care. I had a couple young ones come by the first time. The second surgery they did not care.

When I had the scrotum reduced in 2011 and had complications again no one really cared too much other than I was loosing too much blood and further surgery would have complicated it more. I stayed in the hospital on bed rest for a week that time.

Now, I have not been to an onsen since my scrotal reduction. Actually that is not entirely true I have been but it was empty at the times I was there. So....

I would say that in general no one really seems to care. Then again I am gaijin.... So that will of course make a difference.

Hi, I live in Czech Republic, central Europe. People here generally accept castration from medical reasons, we have high volume of testicle and prostate cancer so this is live topic in news every week . But they don't understand somebody wants to be voluntary castrated, the sexuality is here presented like something necessarily needed by everyone. And still one point, the acceptance depends on the education, the higher, the better.

In Germany we've a law about voluntary castration. That law was made in 1969. Primarily it was to legalize the castration of sex offenders. Minimum age is 25 years. That law is still vaild here.

Generally people in Europe much more open to talk about sexuality. But there is a decline from northern europe (especially Scandinavian Countries (mostly open)) to the south.

The biggest difference I see every time to travel to USA. In the USA you can talk about money easily, but not in Europe. In Europe you can talk about sex, but not about money

For example: you can have public intercourse, as long as none feels a public nuisance a goes to the police, nothing will happen (in Germany). Most times police will tell you to go to a more secret place, but there is no sentence as long as both are of legal age.

Castration is very special, I don't think you can talk freely about that. Gay, Lesbian, bi, hetro that's okay, even BDSM sometimes, but I don't think that's works about castration.

the doctors who I have talked to about orchidectomy appeared no surprised and showed colaborative. My endo even did not say a "but" when I said that I want oestradiol instead testoterone. I guess at least in mexico castration is more accepted when is medically necesary but things progress sllooowwlyyyy... voluntary castration is not well understood yet. probably you will be a tartget of mocks if you said that you are castrated gay /etc, but I think is not necessary to tell, I had an tonsillectomy when I was 8 and do not need to tell everybdy that I have no tonsils so the same is applied for testicles....on the other hand being transgender is another issue perhaps more complicated and unnaccepted however what surprised me a lot was that my endo supported my desire of started on oestrogen without a letter of psychologyst something that I believed that was impossible and unthinkable decades ago I think thinks are changing little by litle

Castration is prohibited in Russia. If doctor castrates you, state put doctor to the prison for a major injury... But if you have MONEY, some doctors can perform castration. But very very little part of doctors. There are a few voluntary castrated man in Russia.

That's very interesting. Do I read that right? You can get elective castration in Germany? If so, I would certainly consider Germany to be preferable to other countries I see mentioned here on EA, for example; Thailand.

Yes, you can get elective castration in Germany?

But that's not easy, the law gives very strict rules. And as said this is primary for sex offenders. But even those people can not get castrated by judgement, the have to ask themselves for castration. They can chosse between chemical and surgery.
