My castration was due to chronic testiclar pain caused by vasectomy, vasectomy reversal and a second vasectomy. 2 children with the X and 3 with my wife. Urologist tried shots for nerve blocks, surgery to cut the nerves and the eventually bilateral orchiectomy. i am now living mostly pain free however I am living without alot of information about long term effects of my castration. i was prescribed 3 pumps of androgel daily and sent home. in the last 5+ years my wife and i have had many ups and downs. I stoped usining hrt 5 months ago and I feel really good, however my wife misses the intimacy. I need help from those who have had the same issues.

I was concerned about contact transfer of the androgel to my young grandchildren. My insurance denied my last perscription so I have to work with my urologist to get approval. As I mentioned I do feel good. I seem to go with the flow and don't get too excited if things don't go my way. I am still able to have penetrative sex with my wife, but I seem less interested. Too bad she won't initiate intimate contact.

Welcome aeunuch2. Not sure that I can offer any worthwhile advice as I'm just starting TRT myself, but you may want to investigate other forms of T if you are concerned about transfer. I'm on Androderm (patch) right now and it seems to be helping me (I had similar intimacy issues along with depression). If you are basically fine without T, you may want to try a low dose for intimacy reasons as well as bone density, etc.

I'm not sure that you can have a conversation with others on this site until you have a prescribed number of posts. I'm not sure what that number is. five perhaps?

I switched to weekly intramuscular injections that I give myself because of the cost of Androgel and am very happy with its results. I feel great.
