VICTOR FRANKENSTEIN
was the latest in a long line of Frankenstein movies (even some that don't use the name Frankenstein) ...
It stars James McAvoy as Frankenstein and Daniel Radcliffe and Igor.
It's not bad but it's not good. The first half is good when the first homunculus comes to life. However, The second half is crap except when the real monster has its rampage.
It's like the script ran out of steam and the writers fell into simply making another Frankenstein movie without the "abby-Normal" or the shock value.
The plot is told from Igor's Point of view. THat's Daniel Radcliffe who we are first introduced to as the clown flunky and hunchback of a circus. Frankenstein rescues him and drains his hump. It's almost comedy, sad to say because Radcliffe puts all of his rather considerable acting ability in to the part and makes the viewer feel. McCoy plays a crazy man (oh yes, Victor is Crazy with a capital C). That's a shame because had the script been able to sustain the Radcliffe PO, the level of investment he puts into the part, and the story then this might have a success.
Sadly, it sinks and doesn't do a damn thing for the scares and the thrills of Frankenstein's Monster until the Monster does appear.
The production values are very high and there is much money invested in this film. But sadly, only one actor is in it and the rest of them are playing parts and speaking lines we've heard before.
