Police: Man severed his penis with scissors on Valentine's Day

Hamilton police are investigating a peculiar self-mutilation case involving a 69-year-old man on February 14.

The male cut off his penis and cut his abdomen open with scissors in a suicide attempt inside his Elmont Avenue home, according to the police report.

Police arrived at the scene at 1:15 p.m. Sunday and disarmed the individual. Hamilton fire personnel then treated the man on scene before he was transported to an area hospital.

There are no updates on his condition at this time.

The fact that he had to be disarmed would suggest that he did not blead out at the scene.

Poor guy that was some cry for help.

Several things come to mind after reading this. Perhaps he had some terminal illness. Perhaps he his spouse had passed. Perhaps he was experiencing some horrible pain. Its hard to know why he did it and with scissors, yikes. Perhaps his penis was not working or had not worked and he was angry about not having erections or being able to have sex. Then again, perhaps like many here, he had always wanted to cut his penis off and finally found the will and nerve to do it. Being disarmed though might mean he was losing his mind.

In 2016 a 69-year-old man in Hamilton, Ohio, cut off his penis with a pair of scissors and then tried to kill himself. In 2013 a homeless man in Lorain, Ohio, cut off his penis with a broken beer bottle and said that Busch beer made him do it. Odd. If I was going to cut off part my physical body off I would go for the reproductive glands, the testicles. My primary interest is in castration, but I would rather have no testicles or no penis and no testicles than just no penis. He should get his phallus reattached or get his stones removed as well and put them all into a jar that resembles an ancient Egyptian canopic jar. That's what I would do. All this talk of men's reproductive organs or penises has made me hungry for some barbequed hot dogs. All I've eaten today are a couple of Trader Joe's Whole Grain Hard Pretzel Sticks from the kitchen downstairs. I've been staying at a friend's house since Friday, March 11, 2016. I'll be there for the three weeks of spring break that we have. I'm welcome to get whatever I want whenever I want from the kitchen downstairs, however, I may fast for a few days.
