Told My Urologist I'm Trans - He Will Do My Orchiectomy

Post by Hopeful1 (imported) »

I had my followup appointment from my nerve block today. Told the doctor I'm transgender and that a week after we did the nerve block, my therapist referred me for HRT and to avoid having to take spirolactone or another androgen blocker, she was recommending an orchiectomy. He asked a few questions, almost like he was testing my knowledge...things like who was I looking at for a surgeon. I immediately answered either McGinn in PA or Marcie Bowers in Burlingame, CA. My wife said afterwards it seemed like he was impressed that I answered everything quickly and knowledgeably. Anyway, he said with a letter from my therapist on her letterhead, he will do the orchiectomy using chronic severe orchalgia on the left side and undescended testicle on the right side as the reason, both medically necessary. What he said he would not do is mention anything about transgender in his diagnosis so Medicare and my co-insurance will pay for it. I have an appointment March 14.

I do know one thing. He is not gentle in examining. I told my wife I think he squeezes until it looks like you're going to pass out before he lets go. Kind of like the analogy of hitting your head with a hammer and feeling so good when you quit. 🔨 LOL

Sounds like a good doctor (you found a gold mine 😎), except for the examination part… ;)

Happy for you Hopeful1!
