Unwanted HRT effects

I was surgically castrated over 7 years ago, so T level fell to zero. Reason for castration was to eliminate my libido which was causing problems in my daily life.
All went as planned, but I did suffer a loss of energy and physical strength (as expected). Recently, my health took a turn for the worse ( I am 74 now), and my doctor suggested that perhaps I should try some HRT to see if I might get a boost in general health. So 50ml of T every 2-weeks was his suggestion since I was not wanting any increase in libido.
I have had 3 injections so far over the last 5 weeks. BUT... I am now getting very strong involuntary erections, and I am developing acne. However, my hot flashes are still annoyingly active. I do feel a bit better, energy wise, but I also notice that I have an increase in aggression (easily anger, etc.). Libido has perked up also.... sigh.
So I am thinking that perhaps I should discontinue the HRT. When I had zero T, I was quite happy but tired easily. I do need to discuss this with my doctor, and will do so very soon.
Comments? Thanks.

It may be the case that you would be better off with a gel or nasal spary so that you can control the dosage daily to get to a comfortable place.
With injections you can't tweak the dose so easily.

Being 77 (nearly 78), I would like to go off HRT but am afraid that I would gain weight. A Dr. friend told me that at my age I did not need the HRT. I am on low dose AndroGel and my last test was 315ng/dl and my urologist was pleased with that reading. I would still like to lower ity some more. I use 20.25 one day and 40.5 the next. I am thinking of reducing it to 20.25 daily and see how I feel. We went on a cruise and i went 10 days without it since I would be flying. My urologist did not complain about me not using the HRT. He only said that by law, TSA officials cannot take the hrt from you. Going 10 days, makes me think I can lower it more. Gonna try it.

Check your vitamin D levels to help with your fatigue. Also, I take plenty of vitamin B12.

Injecting every two weeks is huge roller coaster ride. Talk to doc about smaller dosages about every 5 days. A two weeks, you are getting a high dose that tapers to almost 0 after 2 weeks.

Thanks everyone. I am not going to go every few days for a tiny little injection, nor am I going to use a gel. I am quitting completely. I have decided that I am perfectly happy to be an eunuch. An interesting experiment, but I have absolutely no wish to go through puberty again.... End of story.

I am beginning to think the nurse who injected me screwed up. The bottle of T solution was purchased at a local pharmacy after my Dr. called it in. The pharmacist put the standard label on the bottle thinking it was for normal hrt such as after cancer surgery. So it reads that it contains 10 doses of 200 units or 10 weeks of normal hrt. Well, my Dr. and I agree upon me getting only 1/4th of that and skipping every other dose. So I was supposed to get only 50 units every 2 weeks. The first dose was given under the Dr. supervision, but the next ones were done by the nurse only without the Dr. being present. I think my bad reaction is due to the fact that after a month the nurse forgot the Dr.'s instructions and just gave me what it said on the label! which was too much!
So for now, no more T for me. I like being an eunuch with zero libido - it frees my mind up for thinking about other stuff instead of the distraction of sex. (eunuch calm?)

You can try Deca! It has much benefit on health but as far as no effect on libido or sexual functions.

What is Deca? I need to know more before I talk to my Dr. Thanks. (I know, I can probably Google it....)
