Estrogen and Doctor Visit
Hi alltogether,
I will have a doctor's apointment soon and I would like to pause estrogen so it does not show in the blood tests that I am taking estrogen.
Might there be Problems if I discontinue E for 1 or 2 weeks?
And what time does it take to be off E before the doctor's apointment to not be noticable in tests?
Kind regards and thanks for all answers in advance,
Joe

Re: Estrogen and Doctor Visit
considering 2 things:
1.- how long you have been on estrogens
2.- the route of administration
Injections can take months to return E to your baseline levels, specially in higer dosages and in long-time users
pills and transdermal take some days to dissapear, however If you have several years on pills or patches/gel estradiol levels can take some weeks to return to the baseline.

Will your doctor be doing a specific test that will show estrogen levels?

Re: Estrogen and Doctor Visit
Hi,
as you can also read here (http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... ogen/page3) I have been to the urologist for low T and he has now referred me to an Endocrinologist for a bone density check and check for Androgen-Deficit. Thus I suppose he will do a Hormone Level check.
I started a low dose E after the Urologist visit (so the Levels checked there (see here (http://forums.eunuch.org/showthread.php ... ing-advice) are true and not influenced by E.
However I would not like to admit I have been taking a low dose E since then.
Kind regards

Ah, I see now. I thought it was just a regular doctor visit but an endo is a different matter.

The half life of oral or sublingual estrogen is pretty short. Your levels will be almost normal 24 hours after you take your last dose.

Hi - thanks for your answer!
I am using patches - should I expect quite similar timelines or does it take longer?
Kind regards,
Joe

Re: Estrogen and Doctor Visit
I have been taking estrogen for years. I had a annual health checkup and it included normal blood work and urinalysis. No hormone results were listed in the report. I think it would probably be a specific test to look for hormone levels.

Unless they have a specific reason to check E levels, they won't. Hell, it's hard enough to get them to check them if you are transgender. The transdermal may be a little slower to drop but I doubt by very much.

Re: Estrogen and Doctor Visit
Hi, I have been to the Endo and he confirmed again the very low T Level and low LH Level.
He said he would like to do an "Decapeptyl Test"
Anybody has an idear what this exactly is and what I might have to experience? Supposedly the T Level should rise, or?
Kind regards
Joe
