Any surgeons in Minnesota?
Hello everyone, I have been wanting to have an orchiectomy done for several years now. I have been chemically castrated for over 2 years plus at this point and love the freedom and help its giving me with all aspects of my life from helping with PTSD issues to helping with my anger problems as well. I feel that the time has come to ask for some added help and see if anyone knows of any resources to get this done. Yes I know of the doctor in michigan and have also found others in other states I would like to stay local though if possible. If I cant find anything local to me then I will be making a trip to michigan next year I hope if I have enough money by then. Thanks s

Perhaps Dr Arnkoff should consider moving closer to The Mothership for MOM events?!
He might do more business.

I want my doctor/cutter to be local is often a thinly disguised way of acting like you really want it but never going through with it. Michigan or any other location in the US is not that far away if you're truly wanting it.

There is a lot of insight in what you say. On the other side I, and others, have responsibilities to family or others that can make it difficult or impossible to commit to spending such a sum or to be away so long. --FLO--

Exactly I have both my parents in a failing state of health I would never be able to forgive my self if something were to happen to them when I would be gone for a week or two plus money is an issue as well not so much the good doctors price but hotel costs cost to drive food things like this. Also I like to do follow ups whether needed or not with whichever doctor does a surgery on me just in case I have issues yes I know I could see my local doctor for this its better I found to deal with 1 doctor for everything start to finish
Sorry I am not rich, sorry the stupid V.A. only covers my hormones and wont do the surgery (yet they would give me penial implants if needed go figure that out) I feel discriminated by this. Sorry I am not selfish enough to put my needs above my parents health and needs, they only gave me life and raised me well enough to have the strength and courage to try and be what I truly want to be and not what society wants me to be.
And while I definitely want this I will not use a cutter or a person not certified for this procedure I want it done legitimately and lawfully, but I suppose some would view that as an excuse as well!

The idea behind my comment is not discrimination. Furthest thing from it. However as a person who has completed these surgeries, I've encountered many, many, people who come at me with, "My cutter/surgeon/implement of testicle doom must be across the street from me..." and then they hang out for years and never do anything. In your favor, you've not established a track record of doing such things, but understand for those of who have crossed the finish line, we see insistence on a persons help being local as a frivolous impediment. If one truly wants this, they will be willing to travel for it. Even if that travel and the fees for the surgery take years to save up for. I've seen a lot of people balk at price of surgeries that then turn around and spend $15-20 a week at Starbucks. Well, develop some will power and stop going to Starbucks, and at current rates ($3,000, may have gone up recently) $20 a week put aside would equal one-third of that fee for surgery saved in a year.
Not doing so and being insistent on local help will only leave a person disappointed and frustrated. Where there is a will, there is a way. I'm not telling anyone to do anything other than what I did myself (at least for my final surgery). I'm not rich either, I saved up for my surgery for years. It was a large dent in my savings, as I knew it was going to be, but I needed to be a nullo more.

Fortunately, it is becoming easier and there are an increasing number of counselors and surgeons who are understanding the needs of the MtE community. Losethem has helped to educate one of each, though they are both in California. The Faculty of Human Sexuality within the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health at the University of Minnesota is an excellent resource for those in that state. There are individuals there who are willing to help. WPATH (the World Professional Association for Transgender Health) was headquartered in that department until it moved to Illinois last year and their latest Standards of Care provides the guidance that you need. One letter and referral to a cooperating surgeon. They can probably provide both.
