There is a new movie out titled THE REVENANT with Leonardo Del Caprio.
It's got Oscar buzz and it has a Christmas opening (for reasons unknown to me... Like why?)
HOWEVER, it is also billed as "brutal" and "violent" and all sorts of other things.
Matt Drudge swears it has bear sex and for a few seconds I thought Matt Drudge was talking about a scene like DELIVERANCE's "Squeal like a little piggy" or some tender romance like "BROKEBACK MOUNTAIN" between heavy-set hairy men in the woods. But that wasn't the case.
Matt Drudge thinks a grizzly bear wants Leonardo.
Matt Drudge is an asshole but that's another discussion. Most of the time I don't care that he even exists.
Also, Does Leonardo sleep naked in a horse carcass?
And for real... in a rather brutal attack on a camp, some men drag a naked man across the rocks for real. González Iñárritu (the director) says the man was 22, a stuntman, and a rather nice fellow.
I'm rolling my eyes to the ceiling, NOW! ! ! ! !
This is a Christmas movie?
So, if anyone goes to the movie despite the word of mouth about the violence, please let me know.
Added: It's 157 minutes long.

Re: The Revenant
Christmas opening = needed to be considered for the Oscar season in early 2016. After January 1, they have to wait until 2017.
Frankly, "this movie is an Oscar contender" is a bit like all those ads taken out in variety that said, "For your Oscar consideration..." It's drama created by the movie marketers.
