I received an email from
[email protected] titled "A Special New Website" with attached file "botum.zip".
Is this message legitimate and is the "zip" file safe?

I would guess NOT mac.
Please remember that viruses spoof the sender, so just because an email appears to come from
[email protected] does NOT mean it came from one of our computer.
All that it means is that is came from a computer with both
[email protected] AND your email address in either the contacts list or even in email stored in the inbox.
If you are not running virus scanning, PLEASE go visit
http://www.grisoft.com and download the free version of the AVG virus scanner.

Be it known that "I", the one who gets all the Mail first, do NOT send out .exe or .zip files. I send email, no attachments. If requested, I will send image files or .doc files, with advance warning.
This is much like making an appointment.
So if you get something attached that says it came from
[email protected] and I didnt' tell you beforehand that I was sending it, it's probably a virus that spoofed the sender as "us".
Anti-virus software is cheap, folks. Get it. Keep it updated. If you don't have some due to cost, and can't find a demo/freeware online, that's YOUR problem.
