Inguinal orchiectomy after hernia surgery?

Hello,

Years ago, I had hernia repair on the left side. Since there's a synthetic mesh now all over the area where the surgeon would have to retract the testicle during a possible orchiectomy, will the surgery be more complicated or risky?

Thanks in advance for any insight :-)

Yes. I had hernia years ago on right side the nerves had grown into the tissue and dr had to cut it to get testicle out.

I still have numb area 3.5 yrs later. Discuss options with him beforehand to avoid this issue.

Why not have your castration through an incision in your scrotum?

Mine was inguinal. When there's a possibility of cancer, its best to remove the testicles and entire cords that way. The healing process is quicker and there are typically fewer complications, from my experience and understanding.

Yes, well I think numbness around the scar is unavoidable. I can do with it.

Because the urologist will not perform a scrotal orchiectomy, this is not optional.

My numbness extended from the scar down to penis and onto scrotum and down the leg an few inches.

My suggestion is to talk to the dr and ask if there is in complications for him to cut the cord and then open scrotum and pull thru that way instead of cutting nerve. That area still feel strange 3 yrs later.

Yes, I'll definitely talk with the surgeon about this, thanks for the heads up :-)

The same thing just happened to me this past year. I've got quite a life story related to losing the testicles. I was 18 when I lost my first testicle from torsion. The other was undescended and consequently had to have it moved at the same time to the scrotum. I lived the rest of my life with one testicle. Now because of a inguinal hernia, I lost that one too. At my age I probably don't need it now other than I'm noticing quite a few body and physical changes affecting me. I got off shots because they weren't doing anything for me. I'm now on another method for the past month or so and I do notice some better results. Not the best but better than before.

My urologist did a scrotal orchiectomy on me. It might have been because I had an inguinal hernia operation a week before which cut off the blood supply to the testicle from swelling. He took cords and all by cutting right down the middle of the scrotum. Probably made for a more difficult surgery for him. My other testicle was removed from the side of the scrotum years ago due to torsion but they left the vass and cords on that side back then. So I still have some tissue in the scrotum.
