questions about estrogen

I was wondering if low does of estrogen would give me some sexual libido as I can't seem to use testosterone anymore without wanting to cut my genitals off. I am fine on no replacement but my wife still enjoys and misses the sex. Don't want to grow breasts, don't need to get erections, just need to think about sex once in a while for my wifes pleasure. What would I use and where would I get it here in Canada?

First if you are chemically castrated estrogen will not give you any libido as you need both estrogen and testosterone for libido. If you take estrogen you will have breast growth, but your mileage my very.

I am not chemically castrated. I have been on full hormone replacement for 20 years because a tumor destroyed my pituitary gland. I am most comfortable on no testosterone but it leaves me with no sex drive at all. I was hoping some estrogen might help as I read they were useing it on cancer patients who could not use testosterone.

From my personal experience after surgical castration, there has been a lowering of my libido. I was hoping to get rid of the hot flashes and a slight boost in sex drive. Hot flashes are gone but the libido is lower. It did not happen a once but is slowly drifting lower over the past 10 months on estrogen. I would have to say that your mileage will vary and until you have been on a regiment there is no way of knowing the results.

Thanks for the references J cat. I am going to see if I can get some Estrogel and give it a try. I have an appiontment with my endo in November so if I can't get any I will see if she will switch me to Estrogel for a trial run.

The body (i.e. pituitary gland) does in fact convert some estrogen into testosterone so you will get some T out of a little E, -and a lot of T out of a lot of E. As a matter of fact I take a minimal (what is considered as less than a "post-menopausal" dosage for females) of estrogen and yet according to the doctor I do have a very low but "pre-castrate" level of testosterone in my system. And I was never taking T. The fact that I had never fully developed may have something to do with this though. But the important thing is the body does somehow derive T out of E.

The whole hormonal axis is a very fine balance. The evidence is that if you want full HRT you should be taking a mixture of T, E and progesterone too! Because the balance needs to be maintained. The fact that most prescribers dish out T too men who are eunuchs or have other issues that cause low T is not really a balanced hormonal diet.
The biggest problem of all is that we are all so different and there is no standard dosage. The only way to do it is to do complete hormonal tests and make up for the shortfall.
Usually, eunuchs will be on the lower side of the other reference ranges for hormones and no one bothers to think, maybe a little tweak here and there!
Then again, it depends what the individual wants out of eunuch life.........
This has been posted and discussed elsewhere here, but it is worth bringing to the table again and thinking about:

The bottom line is hormones are complex and the balancing act of that little pituitary is very difficult to replace with HRT.

I have nothing but the anterior stock of the pituitary left so I need not only T replacement but all the other things the pituitary regulates as well. Doctors up here are more worried about the other replacements and will not consider doing much as for as T or E replacement. They are more worried about there convenience than what might work well for me. I got put on Androgel because I could administer it myself and was told it gave a more level replacement but I find I do not like the person I become or my male genitals when on T. I identify as a eunuch but when I talked to my doctor about this I was sent to a shrink to see if I was depressed and nothing more was done. That is why I would like to find a place to buy Estrogel and give it a try. I don't fit in either sexual role but like the no T me much better. Are there any places I can buy Estrogel without a perscription?
