Finally Castrated This Morning

At 6:00 this morning, i reported to the day surgery center at one of our local hospitals where my urologist does surgeries. After checking in and signing consent forms, etc., i waited only a short time before being called back to pre-op. To my surprise, the anesthesiologist gave me a choice between general anesthesia or a spinal block. He encouraged the block due to other medical issues, as well as my full beard making it difficult to seal breathing masks, and i was open to that---besides, he was willing to let me be awake for the procedure or get a sedative to sleep, either way. i agreed to the block, but unfortunately he wasn't able to get it started properly, so i ended up with general anesthesia.
When my surgeon came to see me before the procedure, she was just amazing. She had been very professional and kind during the consult a few weeks ago, but today she was extremely personable and cheerful. When the anesthesiologist mentioned my beard as an issue for general anesthesia, she mentioned she'd never heard of that being an issue before, so she thought it was interesting. Seeing me together with my two heavily bearded partners, she good-naturedly joked that they could always shave the beard off, and of course I said no way! Then i had to laugh, as i pointed out to her that i'd just absolutely ruled out removing my beard, when i was totally great with removing OTHER things----we all had a great laugh over that one.
The procedure itself went perfectly. i came to in the recovery room, and i think i talked the poor nurse's ear off, but i can't remember what i talked about---hopefully nothing too inappropriate! Reporting back to me afterward, my surgeon assured me that she removed as much of the cords as possible, to make sure the scrotum was truly empty for me. I then spent less than an hour in the regular room before being released to go home. One of their big concerns there was making sure i could urinate, and since i had to do so badly as soon as i came to, that wasn't a problem at all. For bonus points, the nurse attending to me in the regular room was a VERY hot, slightly shy/nerdy daddy type, who took great care of me.
i'm resting at home now, with a prescription for oxycodone as needed. i was instructed to stay down as much as possible for the first 24-48 hours, in order to help minimize pain and swelling. So far (6 hours later), i haven't had any pain at all in the groin, but i do have some mild ache in the gut, like you'd get from being hit in the balls if you had them. i will be able to remove the dressing and shower tomorrow, and i'll try to get some pictures posted.
For now, i'm just VERY VERY VERY HAPPY!!
