This case is unbelievable. Three kids ages 9, 10 and 15 have been incarcerated for the summer at least and until 18 at worst because they don't want to have lunch with Dad.

I don't mean to imply that this makes any difference at all, it doesn't. But the kids in question are not from the slums, they're upper middle class. Dad's a Ph.D. mom is an MD and they're white.

It just goes to show that for kids race and ethnic background count for nothing. They're still just chattel. There are plenty of other articles on the net where the pictures and names of the kids are given. What ever happened to protecting the identity of children.

I read the transcripts and that b**** of a judge was actually insulting the children as she was ordering them put away. I checked out the website for where they've been sent. It's a jail.

Seems that mother brainwashed her children, she had five long years to do that! A divorce brings out worst in people! It will be hard to fix this now, unless children agrees to spend some time with their father, and father must proof to them his love.

I sure hope this Judge get brought up on a judicial review. Who in the hell does this judge think she is? GOD? Someone needs to bring her down and quickly.

Well that's the weird thing. A judge in a divorce case actual has legal authority to have the kids put away until they reach 18 thus rendering them wards of the state and stripping them of their rights. The judge doesn't think she's God, she is God. With a stroke of her pen three kids are incarcerated for the foreseeable future and there's very little anyone can do about that. Have you read those stories about boys who find their way in to the legal system and are ordered castrated? It's not so very far from the truth.

On another note I was really surprised to talk with some dads who felt the judge was too harsh with her words but who said that she diid the right thing. They said that they'd rather have their kids in lock up than living with a vicious ex-wife who was poisoning their minds against him. You really have to be careful as to who you breed with. Or better yet don't breed at all.

A very long time ago.... I think it was 1983 or 84, I found out the WRONG way, that a judge does in fact have some authority over things and persons that seem far away from their court. I do not want to go into painful personal details with this story, suffice to say that a Justice of the Peace telephoned me and said he wanted a controlled confidential file NOW, the police sergeant I was working for told me the files were never to leave the office and told me to not take the file to the judge..... BIG MISTAKE. Luckily I did not do any time in jail or even pay a fine, but I found out the next day in the judges office that a Justice of the Peace outranks a police sergeant and that the judge knew the law a bit better than the sergeant. Not to say that judges never make mistakes, they certainly do make mistakes and often their decisions are reversed or overturned, but there are in fact many people who do go to jail or pay heavy fines without ever committing any "crime" other than "contempt of court," I am glad I was not one of them. If a judge told me to have lunch with someone, even if I hated that person, I would probably at least attempt to comply with the judge's order no matter how much I disliked it.

I do not even understand how one can order "to have a healthy relationship"? At best it would be faking it.

PS. I read the transcript. So "not speaking to dad" goes to court as an offense. This world is f@#$ed up beyond saving.

If it was local - I would have suggested there was either bribe or something from father's side.

But damn, it is USA, the one with better attorneys and more money wins. Or attorneys win, and everyone else loses.

I think the "Golden Rule" works pretty much everywhere, not just in the US: He that has the gold makes the rule.

Having gone through a divorce some 25+ years ago, and having a ex-wife who did poison the kids I did get my revenge then and now. I simply told the kids this, "I have and will never speak ill of your mother, at least until you are grown and she is wrong to drag you guys into an argument between us" and second as adults they don't have much to do with there mother, she did it to herself. My youngest son talks about his mother using her first name, will not be in the same room with her and does not speak to her. Many who read this thread know my sons, they have met Pattrick, he has nothing to do with her. So there are things a dad can do, but if its true that the kids saw him hit their mother, then this judge has gone over the line, she is not helping this, she is making it worse, because in the end those kids will become adults. At that point he might never hear from them again, ever and hate the legal system to boot.

Well there's some good news. The kids have been allowed to attend summer camp but their legal status is unchanged. They still belong to the state of Michigan and where they go after camp is undecided.

It must be strange to be a judge in that situation. Imagining having the power to put away an upper middle class 10 year old until he turns 18. If you had that sort of power would it go to your head? Would you abuse it?
