Mr Robot (tv show)

I actually saw the first episode about a month ago "OnDemand" as a hype before it premiered.

I'm hooked.

MR ROBOT very different in tone and style. At once puzzling and fascinating.

It's about a computer technician who doubles as a good hacker/vigilante at night.

It is not a police procedural. There's a few hacker police procedurals on TV now and they have snarky people typing fake programs at silly computers. This hacker isn't that, thank the writers for thawing out that hackneyed and trite POS writing.

Mr Robot is someone who approaches the male lead with a vast and weird conspiracy proposition. That would be Christian Slater in a rather enigmatic figure in this first show.

Then something happens at the end (I still don't understand what happened because it's a cliffhanger)

I will watch it again tonight (on A&E at 10pm) and stick around for several episodes.

There's three questions that are burning in my mind:

1) Is Elliot a reliable or unreliable narrator? Can we trust him?

2) Who is Mr Robot?

3) How seriously fucked up is Elliot?

So does it seem to be something akin to the movie, "A beautiful mind" minus the schizophrenia and historical setting?

But did you like it?

No !

And an ad I saw for it attributed its' creativity to "The Girl with The Dragon Tattoo"

which I did like very much and watched it so much I could recite the script as it played.

I got so into Nordic Noir.

I liked the Swedish version of THE GIRL WITH THE DRAGON TATTOO better than I liked the American Version.

Both are good movies but they end differently and that made the one movie better than the other.

The Swedish version is definitely much better, but then I am a bit biased.

Well, I loved it. I wasn't going to watch it, but I caught one segment of it late last Thursday night and immediately decided I had to see the whole pilot episode. Lead actor Rami Malek drew me in ... not only because he's adorable, but also because of his soothing yet creepy voice-overs. And the social commentary is the kind of stuff I've been waiting to hear in a serious TV show for a long time. If they can retain this level of quality and interest, then I'm in for the whole summer.

Oh, and Dave, it's very possible you DID see this on A&E. The segment I caught last Thursday was NOT on USA Network. I think it was the E! channel. I've seen this kind of thing before. I think NBC owns USA Network ... a few years ago, I saw the "Smash" pilot on USA Network.
