A WOMAN is to face trial this month accused of snipping her boyfriend's willy with a pair of scissors.

Helen Smith is accused of grabbing her man's member and cutting it with the household implements at their home in Cardenden, Fife .

The incident last August is said to have left Smith's partner, Stuart Cooper hurt.

Smith, 48, faces a single charge which alleges that on 26th August, she "did assault Stuart Cooper, your partner, and did seize his penis and cut same with scissors, to his injury".

At Dunfermline Sheriff Court today, Smith of Carden Castle Park, Cardenden, pleaded not guilty to the allegation.

Sheriff Charlie Macnair continued the case for trial on May 25.

Scissors seem like an unlikely weapon for the job if she used ordinary office-type paper-cutting scissors, anyway. I doubt it did much more than break the skin, as penises are pretty tough, and getting the thing in between the blades would be tricky if the guy wasn't holding still for her. If she was serious about actually cutting it off, she probably had half a dozen knives in the kitchen that would have done the job more efficiently. I have a feeling there's more to the case than was in the brief news reports. The trial should have been in the past week. Has anyone heard an update?

The incident was said to have left Mr Cooper "hurt" but the

court heard on Monday that he did not want the matter to proceed.

Depute fiscal, Azra Yousaff, made a Crown motion to adjourn the

case due to the absence of Mr Cooper.

She said: "The witness was cited in the usual postal fashion.

He may be aware of today's trial.

"He is a reluctant witness. "He did not want the matter to proceed."

Yvonne McKenna, defending, opposed the motion saying:

"I have a letter that the complainer wrote to my firm. He said he

made no complaint or statement.

"He had no wish for this matter to proceed."

She added the case was putting Smith "under enormous pressure"

and she is unable to work in her new job at a supermarket due to

suffering from a depressive illness.

Ms McKenna said: "She has been unable to work and her job is in

jeopardy due to the press and media coverage."

Sheriff Ian Anderson rejected the Crown motion for the case to be

continued and found Smith, of Carden Castle Park, not guilty.

The first article made me wonder what was really going on. Consensual sex play that needed medical attention, which got the sheriff involved, maybe? But the second article says she was suffering depression, in which case she needs help, not jail, and her hubby seems to agree.
