Best part of the video is at 2:20 (near the end).

What makes you think that I would spend money to see this in a theater? I'll wait until it hits free cable. Well, sort of free cable because that's part of my internet. I try to save the theater trips (which cost money and dinner) for something new.
And that movie (the remake of National Lampoon's Vacation) is not original or interesting. It is a nostalgia piece for aging baby-boomers with lots of sex jokes. This was my fear and my potshot at certain writing genres -- in particular HP Lovecraft-like stories and I'll add another genre - - the Sherlock Holmes-type stories.

Oh...just...NO!
You can't do it again. The original is a classic.
Why ruin the memory?

You are so right, there are so many re-makes that are just CRAP that get's piggy-backed on an original classic film. For me, the worst examples of totally worthless re-makes are "Dune" (not the ORIGINAL version with Patrick Stewart - no, the CRAP version done by Sci-Fi channel) and worse yet, the supposedly better Wes Craven's "The Fog," the "newer and better" was not nearly as good as the original with Jamie Lee Curtis and Adrienne Barbeau. I think sometimes some mediocre wannabees in the movie industry latch on to a really great movie, and convince some fools to fund their "new and improved" version and actually they are just trying to make themselves look talented when they are definitely NOT talented.

It's as if Hollywood has run out of ideas.
I'm sure we could all give them some new ones.

In this case they are not simply re-shooting the original but are instead presenting a different trip. But I do agree with the point that Hollywood is LONG out of ideas.

Because its Hollywood and they can
I mean can you picture a remake of say Animal House?
No you can't and neither can I

One of the last movies I went to see at a theater because it was hyped and a remake was Vince Vaughn's COLOR remake of Hitchcock's PSYCHO. IT was OK but it wasn't like the original. Simply the addition of color didn't work to make it the same as the original. That soured me on remakes. Since then, an entire move was made about what Hitchcock went through to make and market the original. The color remake wasn't even thought about.

i saw Hitchcock's PSYCHO when i was around 10 or 11. it was awesome.
i miss those days when there wasn't any letter rating and a kid could just walk in and see anything.
the theater would play the same movie all day long and they didn't throw you out.
You could bring your own snacks in a paper lunch bag.
i stopped going to movies. Its all jerks with cell phones. Punks putting their feet against your seat.
overpriced and undersized snacks. And water downed drinks.
Now i buy a pizza get a coupon and go next door for a free movie rental. Or rent cheap from cable.
Put me down as another one who HATES remakes. They ruin Village Of The Damned with putting Superman in the remake.

There are many classics that were black and white, it was and sill is a great way to tell a story, I would hate to see some of those old classics have color added, they would loose something special. When they take an old film that was b/w and add color, when you watch it the color looks like it was added, it does not look right.
