Flomax Question

I am unsure if this is the right place to post this question however I am on Flomax as part of treatment for BPH and neurogenic bladder. I've noticed since starting to take it that the only thing it has done so far is that it pretty much kills my erections. None. Zippo.
Is Flomax a drug that would fall into the catergory of a chemical castration drug or what?
I have failed to see any improvement since I started taking it.
Thanks.

It is not a castration drug. The uro put me on it for awhile, but the endo nixed that. Why try to shrink the prostate a bit when doing testosterone? Nonsensical... There is no reason that I am aware of that would cause Flomax to cause limp dick. Suggest go read about its side effects...

I'm on it right now. I woke up a month and a half ago and I couldn't pee. It got painful so I went to the ER and they put in a catheter. That stayed in 10 days until I could get to see the urologist. He took it out and put me on Flomax. All it does is relax the muscle at the base of the bladder so you can start your urine stream. Once again I can bring forth a deluge of Biblical proportions. Seems that my prostate lasted 71 years before deciding to enlarge. Still, the doctor doesn't see the need for any surgery or more radical treatments. There is no sign of a limp dick because of the Flomax. By the way, this is the last drug that the FDA allowed to have a brand name that really tells you what it does.

It is interesting since Flomax did absolutely nothing for me besides kill my erections. I still have to catheterize myself . Anyway, I told my doctor that it wasn't doing anything at all so he took me off it.

Your erectile issues truly should have nothing to do with Flomax. Sounds more like that was what you expected, and your mind made it happen.

I have been on Flomax for some time as prostate infection causes swelling and urine flow can be poor especially in the morning. I have not noticed any drop in libido. I am still a very horny cat!

I've been on Flomax for BPE for about six months and there's been no change in my erections, but now have much less ejaculate.

Here's a possible explanation. Coinflipper 21 in reply#3 noted of Flomax, "

I used Flomax for about two weeks in the few months in 2008 when healing changes were rapid after I finished radiation for prostate cancer. Urine flow had gone from easy to difficult and Flomax made it easy again, then suddenly way too easy as I healed more and I was incontinent! I stopped Flomax in a hurry. By then my prostate made scarcely any more ejaculate and never has again.
Dr. Stephen Strum in his book, A Primer on Prostate Cancer, notes that those muscles at the bladder's outlet into the prostate-surrounded urethra are the primary sphincter valve for retaining urine in the bladder and often are compromised in function as part of prostate removal surgery. A secondary function of that sphincter is to stay closed as a "check valve" during ejaculation so the pressurized ejaculate is all expelled out the penis and none goes up into the bladder, also that no urine flows into what's being ejaculated.
If your Flomax lets your bladder outlet sphincter stay less than tight enough during ejaculation, much of your ejaculate volume may be going the wrong way into your bladder and staying there, mixed with your urine.

I was prescribed Flomax a year or so ago to improve urine flow. It seemed to me that it made my erections softer, but still achievable. However from taking the very first (or second) tablet, it caused 'retrograde ejaculation'. My ejaculations were bone-dry (no pre-cum either) and (it seemed to me) less intense without the 'rush' of the ejaculate taking its usual route.
It has since became available off prescription (in the UK) so I tried it again last year, mainly to ease a recurrence of my flow problem, but also for the novelty of the dry ejaculation.

Dry ejaculations mean never having to say, "I promise not to cum in your mouth".
