I have mixed feelings about this movie. I think had had a thing going (like a small cold) when I watched it and it took me half the movie to settle down. Maybe it was that overly large bowl of meatballs and penne with red sauce.

ooops, I digress:

Jake Gyllenhaal plays Louis Bloom and Louis needs a job when he witnesses a car crash and see a man filming it for the news. So he invents himself as the new and upcoming supplier of "if it bleeds, it leads" video. Bloom romances the News Director (Rene Russo), gets an assistant and begins to work his way up the corporate ladder (so to speak) of bloody deaths.

Louis Bloom is a psychopath of the first order.

He's quite a startling character. Ruthless, backstabbing and he knows the management lingo.

Eventually, him and his partner see a home invasion and he films it. Hides info from the police and turns the bloodiest story ever seen over to the new station. Then he finds the home invaders and calls the police so he can film the shootout.

I did say he was a psychopath, didn't I?

What happens next is exciting and amazing. He does live up to his name - Nightcrawler.

So on a scale of 1 to 5, I give it a 4.

But remember, it's creepy.

My wife was trained as a journalist in Latin America. She thought it was pretty realistic.

I agree with you. Keeps your attention and the guy is creepy.
