Guardians Of The Galaxy is a movie set in the Marvel Universe that you haven't seen (this ain't The Avengers)
There's five Guardians -
Peter Quill AKA Starlord (he insists that is his nickname)
A green woman who's a trained fighter
A big dude, really big, huge, gargantuan. Green, covered with tattoos, runic tattoos.
Groot - a sentient plant, a tree sort of. He's vocabulistically deprived. Disco dances, too.
Rocket, the misbegotten result of illegal genetic experimentation on lower animals - he started out as a raccoon , now he makes bombs bombs big enough to destroy minor moons.
Rocket has issues.
Starlord has issues but you can see his issues with a black light.
Rocket has real psychological problems.
Then there's the villains. The one that counts wants an "infinity stone" that will give him the power to destroy the universe of all who aren't to his liking. He's purple, pouty and a giant bore, mostly. That's what villains are made of.
It's delightfully escapist fun, lots of action, lots of all sorts of weird space things, no one understands Earth colloquialisms which is fun.
Just sit back and let it wash over you. Enjoy the craziness and the story.
Don't miss the beginning, it has some meaning to the story.
