Using TRT to achieve castration levels

I came across this article and wonder if anyone has any personal experience in it?

I've am currently using TRT in hopes to eliminate the chronic pain I have in my testicles. My thoughts are that because of my long time hypogonadism perhaps my pain comes from my testicles overworking trying to keep up with the T needs that my body craves. If the testicles shut down from artificial T being added to my system perhaps my discomfort will shut down as well.
Would like to hear from all concerning their use of TRT and the effects on their testicles. After beginning TRT when did they begin to atrophy or did they? Did TRT help any testicular pain issues? My urologist is having me use 1 - 50mg tube of Testim gel daily. Is this enough to really completely shut my testicles down? My last serum T level before starting TRT was 197.
Also what about artificial T being converted by my testicles into estrogen in my system?? Is this true and how long do you have to use TRT before this happens and what happens to my body when it does? Will increased amounts of artificial T just make this worse?
I'm definitely interested in shutting my testicles down to see if it will help my frequent discomfort but I'm not crazy about increasing my estrogen level unless I can't have one without the other.
Comments and/or suggestions??

Almost none of the testosterone unless excessive would ever be converted into estrogen. Men as a norm do have a tiny amount though. Usually the problem is the reverse with transsexuals taking lots of estrogen that the testicles then convert into testosterone. Hormones can be converted either way (yes they can!) but the testicles insist on a certain percentage mixture and so long as you have them you don't need to worry about coming up with estrogen. Ovaries on the other hand insist on another certain percentage mixture but almost none of us here have those. I, myself have neither but did have tiny testicles once and was prescribed T twice in my life which started hair to grow on my upper lips and chin and a little on my cheeks for a long while. Now I take very small dose estrogen but I can do this since I have no balls anymore.

Your best bet is to have your testicles removed by your urologist. I know that some urologists are reluctant to do this, but shop around till you get one who will do the surgery for you. I had the same problem for years as a result of a post vasectomy infection. Happily now both are gone and so is the pain. You may have to do some damage to them to cause a visible problem for the urologist to agree to remove them or else find a female urologist, they are more pragmatic.

I've heard that long term testosterone replacement therapy can cause your testicles to shrink as a side effect. It's likely dose dependent but I don't know the amount it would take and is something that will probably take some time to notice any difference. I would imagine that any amount over what your body requires and is considered excess might cause a little shrinkage over time. I've been on TRT for a number of years and never noticed any decrease in size. I have had some off and on pain and can't say that injections made any difference. It's probably one of those "your mileage may vary" situations.

Not everyone will atrophy with HRT, although production of T might fall. Keep in mind too much T is also bad for your health. Can cause hypertension and elevated hemoglobin, raising stroke risk

I would completely agree with this statement. I have been on TRT for about a year now and fully dependent on it since my testicles were removed in March this year. I had been using 2 pumps of Axiron per day since my castration, but about 2 weeks ago decided to back off a bit and use only one pump per day to save a bit of money. I actually feel better on the lower dose and also function better now as well. I find it easier to get and maintain an erection, which is really good.

I use testosterone injections, and I probably feel the best at the end of my cycle prior to the next shot. I've reduced the dosage and extended the time between injections because when it is a bit low I feel much more calm and relaxed.

My endocrinologist tried to persuade me to go to an injection every 3 months, but I told him flat out NO. Besides the ups and downs, I don't fancy having a needle the size of a garden hose jabbed into my ass. He has also suggested trying the gel, so maybe when my current prescription runs out, I will try that.

You can always self-inject like I do. That way you can choose the schedule and the amount to inject. To a certain extent you can also choose the size of the needle. It's not so bad.

Amen. There are now too many reports of the risk of excess T. It's real, and would do more than spoil your whole day.
If the testicles are a problem, get advice to have them gone. You can lead a healthy life after, without taking this risk that you don't need.
