Gracepoint

Gracepoint is a sleepy little town on the California coast.

And there is a murder in Gracepoint.

It is a sorrowful story but an excellent story as the twists and turns of the investigation rip open the town and reveal all the secrets buried in Gracepoint and there are secrets.

This was mentioned in another thread but the posts were not (shall we say) respectful enough to continue there.

This is the American remake of the British drama BROADCHURCH with David Tenant reprising his role as the investigator and the rest of the cast changing.

In the opening of the first episode while the credits are rolling, we see the Father of the deceased greet or pass by the characters involved in the story. One of them is the killer. Pay close attention to that scene - it's one piece of videotape without cuts. A work of art rarely placed on film.

GRACEPOINT ended tonight. The killer is revealed.

I like this version of the story better than the BBC's BROADCHURCH.

Same basic story, different plot.

So without spoilers - I feel GRACEPOINT is better because it has those two extra episodes to do more character development. This show is all about character development. Broadchurch ended on a happily ever after moment. That breaks the drama inherent in the story. Now that may sound strange because it is the murder of a 12 year old boy they solve. GRACEPOINT ends with a truly inspired and amazing revelation that does not break the drama.

Sorry to be cryptic but SPOILERS, you know. SPOILERS.
