Croatia: “Penis Collector” arrested in Slavonski Brod TodayWorld Published: August 14, 2014 at 9:12 pm Modified: August 14, 2014 at 9:12 pm 0Get Short URL Twitter4Facebook24GoogleReddit SLAVONSKI BROD – Police officers in Slavonski Brod arrested a man (52) in whose apartment they had found a few glass jars with penises in formalin. It is assumed that penises were cut off from the bodies of men in a morgue or pathology clinic. The man is in custody and under investigation, it was confirmed by the police. It is still unknown how the police found out about the “collector” and whether he had anything to do with funeral homes and hospitals. The only thing known is that he has no criminal record and is considered as “a family man”.

Also more details here where it mentions he worked as technician in hospital (with access to corpses): http://www.b92.net/eng/news/region.php? ... v_id=91297

"Body parts collector" arrested in Croatia

SLAVONSKI BROD -- The police in Croatia have a 52-year-old man in custody on suspicion that he owns "a collection of human body parts."

The Zagreb-based daily Jutarnji List writes that the man is a resident of the town of Slavonski Brod, and that "the bulk of his bizarre collection is made up of male genitals."

According to the same source, he is facing charges of "violating the peace of the dead."

Officials were also quoted as saying that because of the nature of the case, they would "not publish any more details," while police spokesperson Kata Nujić revealed that they acted after receiving a tipoff that "jars have been found most likely containing human body parts."

Unofficial reports said that the suspect took the organs from the pathology department of the general hospital in Slavonski Brod, where, the Hina news agency reported quoting reliable sources, he worked as a technician.

The hospital did not wish to make any comment, while reports noted that the suspect was suspended a while ago "for violations of work ethics."

Some people collect stamps and some people collect cocks. Seems OK to me.

How does one "violate the peace of the dead"? Dead IS peace...Dead IS dead...Can't get any more peaceful than that...Unless , of course, you're some lame brained Jezuz freak..Jackie

You know, I'm extremely atheist, but I still feel that there is something wrong about not treating dead bodies with respect. It feels like it is somehow showing you understand the fragility and miracle of life -- something miraculous was once there. Sure logically it is now just empty junk flesh that can't technically feel dignity slighted, pain, or broken peace but it still seems like it should be a crime to treat a corpse poorly.

I think the taboo about such things is for the living, not the dead. It creeps me out (now) to think that some necrophiliac will be using my body parts for masturbation after I'm gone. At that point, of course, I'll have no further use for them and won't know whether I'm cremated or left to putrefy and rot naturally, but while I'm alive, I find the thought disturbing that someone may be using parts of my body--or body parts of someone I care about--for sexual gratification. Funerals, too, are for the benefit of the living, not the dead. Same concept. We'd like to think that after we're gone, people will say nice things about us and remember us fondly and with respect, so we treat dead loved ones that way.

I don't mind people using my body parts for sexual gratification, either living or dead!

I think that another aspect is that we know that aversion to dead people is natural (due to the risk that disease killed them or that bacteria now growing on them is dangerous) and so attraction or undue interest in dead people is sign of mental illness of some sort. Basically thinking of someone else doing things to us triggers the mental images that then triggers our natural aversion response.

Remind me to tell you about the time that somebody tied a severed penis on the string on the light switch in the human anatomy dissection lab cooler right before the nursing class met...

She didn't collect penises but Elaine Samuels worked in the med exam dept for Milwaukee County some time ago and had a collection of testicles that she took home for personal research. I can't find a link to the newspaper article of it right now- maybe its too old. She collected them from autopsies, not from us eunuchs in the Milwaukee area.
