Scrotal or Inguinal Orchiectomy? Which did you do, or would you do.
I was castrated three weeks ago by my Urologist. He performed the procedure through the scrotum. He made two 1 inch horizontal incisions on each side of my scrotum, leaving me with two nice scars. I was wondering how other members preferred to be done. I desired the scrotal procedures because I wanted a scar visible (I don't know why, but I have always thought that the scar was Sexy). Is there a preference out there on how it is done?

From my personal experience and from what I've read of others experiences on this site, the inguinal method seems to have the least complications and the healing is faster. You do have abdominal scars; however, they can become obscured as the hair grows back and the scars fade somewhat over time. I assume that this is the same for testicular scars.

I had only the right removed via inguinal surgery. The surgery destroys the fat layer in the surgical field, and years later, I'm still "lopsided." It probably doesn't bother anyone but me, but I think it makes me look odd. I guess is you have the surgery on both sides it would be perfectly balanced. I've also had scrotal surgery due to a leaky prosthesis, and have scars. They are not nearly as noticeable as the inguinal scar. After all, the old ball bag is already wrinkly. I don't know where the idea that inguinal incisions heal faster came from, but I definitely disagree. For one thing, the stitches "pull" every time you move until they come out.

I was done on March 15th also by a urologist. He advised and performed a scrotal removal and used a single central incision to remove both. I had problems with healing but this was as a result that my body tends to dissolve self dissolving sutures too quickly, so I had a bit of a gape by day 5, but that soon closed up and now just over 2 months down the track, the scar is hardly visible.
Next step is to get the empty bag removed in a few months.

I was also done by one small cut in the centre of my scrotum, small because the time they got round to doing it my testicles were very small. As i wasn't having fake ones put in I was told this was the quickest and most simple method with the least chance of infection and I would heal quickly.
All of which happened, sadly though my stitches which were also meant to dissolve, didn't, I still have them on the inside which causes some discomfort and I am being recut on Friday the 13TH of June, rather fitting, to remove them and be restitched, I have no visible scar just lumps where the stitches are. Other than that things went really well and I was up and around more or less the next day doing all my usual things.

I should add that when the testicles are removed through the abdomen so are the spermatic cords, which obviates the chance that they will attach to the scrotal wall following surgery. The surgery did result in a symmetrical flat groin, as Primebird suggested.

Mine were removed inguinally, and I do have two scars on either side. I had no issues with pain or healing, the Dr. did have to make a minor incision to my scrotum due to an adhesion that was sealed by 2 stitches, those caused me more issues than the incisions in my abdomen, those didn't have any stitches, the incisions were closed by sperry strips.
