Official Eunuch

So I just got back from Detroit and I am now castrated! Woo!
Dr Arnkoff was very professional and so was the nurse. My scrotum doesn't feel empty at all which is prolly why he showed me my severed testicles as proof because now it feels like I have 3 or 4 testicles in there. The blood and swelling isn't expected to go away for several weeks.
I am so glad I had my dear friend with me because I couldn't function at ALL the first day. I could barely stand. It's the second day and now I am walking (albeit slowly)
TIP! Get well fitting absorbent underwear. Its for the drainage tube. The ones I bought weren't well fitting and caused lots of unnecessary discomfort. If I weren't so concerned with ruining hotel linens then I would of just took off my pants and let it drain into a towel. That would of felt way better.

Congratulations! Hope you feel better soon.
FWIW, ice was good for the first couple of days only, then motrin and as much rest as possible was good the balance of a week. After that, everything settled gradually but was able to do most things. The scrotum went all colors of the rainbow! Drain? with one but not the other. Anyway nothing very much came out there and it was in for a day only. Seem to remember that a bottle of baijiu (sorgum liquor) was a fine ally!

Congratulation, Lasander on your success in becoming a eunuch. Hopefully one day I'll join the eunuch ranks, too. Ditto, would like to hear what the Doctor is charging. Hope your recover goes well for you.

I am glad that you had a good experience with Dr. Arnkoff, Lasander. Butterfly Jack and johnnyquest, I went to Dr. Arnkoff in November and he charged $2,500 but said he was raising his price to $3,000 January 1. Since I had to travel a good ways I had the additional expense of airline tickets, hotel and car rental. Everything went well with my visit to see the Dr. and there were no complications. I am very pleased overall.

Congratulations! Yes when something is removed from the body fluid takes it's place until reabsorbed. I suggest a scrotal support which is like a jock strap with an opening for your penis. This keeps your fluid filled scrotum from pulling too hard when vertical. You can also add dressings to absorb the fluid from the drainage tube. Heal quickly.

I guess Dr A has figured that he's the only game in this town. This is an inexpensive ($400) job in a reputable hospital elsewhere in the world. Maybe he hopes you won't dare leave US. I suspect that if he ups his margin much more, a few will try the alternatives, including those that are not so reputable..

I have consulted the medical transcriptionist I know. She continues to insist that the insurance standard fee for bi-lateral orchiechtomy is US$6,000 (usually reduced by agreement between insurer and provider by a substantial amount), so US$3000 is probably about the right amount for a non insurance payer. --FLO--
